POWAY (KGTV) -  Poway firefighters are joining forces with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise funds for the firefighters' annual Fill the Boot campaign on Thursday.The goal of the campaign is to help free children and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other life-threatening diseases. President Donald Trump said Thursday that General Motors CEO Mary Barra made a "big mistake" by laying off thousands of workers and pledged to retaliate against the company.In a Fox News interview with Harris Faulkner, he said he was upset with GM's plan to restructure its global business, including halting production at five facilities in North America and eliminating about 14,000 jobs.He?lashed out against Barra, calling her actions "nasty.""To tell me a couple weeks before Christmas that she's going to close in Ohio and Michigan -- not acceptable to me," Trump said. "And she's either going to open fast or somebody else is going in. He criticized the company for making some of its vehicles and parts in Mexico, and he said the new USMCA agreement will remedy that."Now the new deal, the USMCA, that I made, really makes it very uncomfortable for people to go out of the country," Trump said. Potential accuracy issues with a widely used coronavirus test could lead to false results for patients, U.S. health officials warned.The Food and Drug Administration issued the alert Monday to doctors and laboratory technicians using Thermo Fisher’s TaqPath genetic test. Regulators said issues related to laboratory equipment and software used to run the test could lead to inaccuracies. The agency advised technicians to follow updated instructions and software developed by the company to ensure accurate results.The warning comes nearly a month after Connecticut public health officials first reported that at least 90 people had received false positive results for the coronavirus. Most of those receiving the false results were residents of nursing homes or assisted living facilities.A spokeswoman for Thermo Fisher said the company was working with FDA “to make sure that laboratory personnel understand the need for strict adherence to the instructions for use.” She added that company data shows most users “follow our workflow properly and obtain accurate results.”The FDA said one possible problem was related to the incorrect use of equipment that rapidly spins samples in preparation for processing. The agency’s letter tells lab workers to follow new instructions developed by the company for this step.A second issue relates to the software used on Thermo Fisher’s testing platform. President Donald Trump said Friday he will head to Florida later in the day to meet with those affected by the school shooting that left 17 dead in southern Florida."I will be leaving for Florida today to meet with some of the bravest people on earth -- but people whose lives have been totally shattered," Trump tweeted Friday morning.
