Del Mar, Calif. (KGTV)- California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a series of gun bills into law Friday, including a bill that will prohibit gun and ammunition shows at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The bill was authored by State Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-78)."People have the right to continue to buy guns at private establishments. The state just shouldn't have a role in facilitating the flow of guns into neighborhoods where children are killed," Gloria told 10News in an interview shortly after returning from the bill signing in Sacramento.Gloria was inspired to act by anti-gun violence advocates who began protesting the Crossroads of the West Gun Show, held five times each year at the Fairgounds. Groups such as "Never Again CA" began the protests shortly after the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida.Crossroads President Tracy Olcott told 10News the company plans to sue the stop the law from taking effect. "Gun shows are not the place where gun violence is created. We're the ones who are educating about gun safety and I think when you have an environment where you can talk about it and educate people, I think that's an important part of curbing gun violence."The next gun show will be held in December. DENVER — Convicted murderer Chris Watts has been moved from a Colorado prison to another prison out of state.Four sources confirm to KMGH's Jace Larson that Chris Watts was transferred from the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, where a new prison inmate goes after conviction, to an undisclosed facility out of state. Victims’ families -- who requested to be alerted -- have been notified, two of the four sources with knowledge of the movement told KMGH. Watts' current location has not been identified, except to victims' families, the source said.Watts pleaded guilty last month to killing his pregnant wife Shanann Watts and their two young daughters at their home in Frederick, Colorado in August. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.The Colorado Department of Corrections inmate locator shows Watts' location as the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, but this is no longer the case.The move occurred as part of an interstate compact where high-profile prisoners can be moved to another state’s system, or occasionally the federal prison system, for safety. Denver Broncos starting running back Melvin Gordon was charged with a DUI and speeding of 25-39 mph over the limit Tuesday night in downtown Denver, according to court records.“We are aware of the situation involving Melvin Gordon. Our organization has been in communication with him and is in the process of gathering more details,” the team said in a statement on Wednesday.Gordon, 27, was cited at 5th Avenue and Speer Blvd., according to court records. Based on NFL precedent, he is facing a likely 2-to-3 game suspension.
