Kent Dunn and his sons spend their days preparing for harvest in Finney County, Kansas. Their farm grows thousands of acres of corn for local cattle feedlots, soybeans, cotton and milo. But their farm, like every other in the county, is struggling to conserve the one thing in short supply: water.“If we don’t conserve the aquifer, it’ll be something that just disappears,” said Kent Dunn, of 4D Farms. 409
Khloé Kardashian is a mom.Two sources close to the family tell CNN that Kardashian has given birth to a baby girl.Kardashian's boyfriend and the father of her child is Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Tristan Thompson. The couple became embroiled in controversy before the birth after reports surfaced that Thompson had been spotted in the company of other women during Kardashian's pregnancy.Kardashian announced her pregnancy in December with a photo on her official Instagram account, featuring Thompson cradling her pregnant belly."My greatest dream realized," the caption read. "We are having a baby!"Kardashian had been open in the past about her struggles with infertility and wrote, "I had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along.""He knew what He was doing," she wrote. "I simply had to trust in Him and be patient."Her desire to start a family had been part of the storyline on her former reality show "Khloé & Lamar" with now ex-husband and former NBA player Lamar Odom (the couple were estranged for some time before legally divorcing last December). It's been a big year for the Kardashian-Jenner clan in terms of babies.Reports surfaced in September that Khloé Kardashian was pregnant after news that her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, was also pregnant with her first child.Jenner gave birth to her daughter, Stormi, in February.Kim Kardashian West and rapper husband Kanye West welcomed their third child, a daughter they named Chicago, via a surrogate in January. On Monday, Kardashian hinted her baby's arrival may be imminent with a photo captioned, "We are ready whenever you are little mama."Thompson reportedly has a son by former girlfriend, Jordan Craig. 1713

KGTV (San Diego)---Frank Powell says distance learning has been especially hard on his daughter Angelina, who has cerebral palsy. "She cannot learn just giving her an iPad and me teaching her, she has to have one on one contact with a teacher that knows what they're doing," he explained. He believes that for his family the benefits of in-person instruction outweigh the risks during the pandemic.Which is why he was encouraged to hear about San Diego City Councilmember Chris Cate's plan to give SDUSD families more options for how kids are taught during the upcoming school year.A statement released by Cate Tuesday reads in part, "As a father myself, I understand the struggle families are going through right now with ensuring their children are receiving a quality education."The plan includes:Offering waivers for in-person instructionCreating open-air classroomsImplementing staggered start timesand providing more resources and financial support for parents who choose to keep their kids home.Although Governor Newsom has said schools can't reopen until the county has been off the state's watchlist for 14 days, there is an option for districts to apply for an exemption that could be granted by county health officials. The exemption only applies to elementary schools.Whether it's through an exemption or other means, parents like Powell say they just want the option to choose. "There's no reason why a classroom can't be adjusted to accommodate the students. So, yes, I would send her and she can wear a mask, she's fine. 1542
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Health authorities are poised to declare the African continent free of the wild poliovirus after decades of effort. The declaration on Tuesday leaves Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan as the only countries thought to still have the wild poliovirus. "Today we are also celebrating another public health triumph: the eradication of wild poliovirus in Africa," said Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus with the World Health Organization. "This is an incredible achievement, and a much-needed cause for celebration."The World Health Organization says this is just the second time a virus has been eradicated in Africa, after smallpox four decades ago. However, the announcement doesn’t mean Africa is polio-free. Cases of vaccine-derived polio are still sparking outbreaks. Still, health authorities see the declaration as a rare glint of good news in Africa amid the coronavirus pandemic and another Ebola outbreak in Congo that has infected 100 people. 993
