KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens has been indicted by a grand jury in St. Louis on a felony invasion of privacy charge. The St. Louis City Attorney's Office confirmed Greitens was taken into custody by police in St. Louis. Just because you're bankrupt doesn't mean you don't need a hand during the holiday season.Toys R Us, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday night, announced Thursday that it is looking to fill at least 13,000 positions nationwide for the upcoming holiday season.The toy retailer didn't give the total number of seasonal workers it plans to hire, but said it is looking for 3,800 workers in the New York area, 2,400 in greater Los Angeles as well as 2,400 at a warehouse in Groveport, Ohio that is run by DHL. It is also looking for about 1,000 workers each in the Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston markets as well as 900 work at home call center employees.Hiring workers just for the holidays will be harder for retailers this year since unemployment at at 4.4%, near a 16-year low. There are currently a record number of unfilled job openings according to Labor Department statistics. To fill the jobs in the current environment, Toys R Us has sweetened its pay package to offer employees weekend pay rates on peak holiday shopping days, as well as additional employee discounts said spokesman Joseph Contrino.Earlier this week Walmart, the nation's largest private sector employer, said that instead of hiring seasonal employees this year it will give?its existing part-time employees more hours.Toys R Us has nearly 1,000 Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores across the United States and Canada, and filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday. La Jolla residents are beyond frustrated after yet another truck got stuck on one of its busiest streets, a problem they thought the city fixed last week.The latest incident happened Saturday, when a delivery truck got trapped trying to turn up steep Hillside Drive from busy Torrey Pines Road. The truck jutted out into Torrey Pines Road, blocking one lane. "I am completely flabbergasted," La Jolla resident Diane Kane said. "Clearly whatever they did, it was not effective."The city recently installed a cross gutter at the base of Hillside Drive, which residents say made the problem worse. On May 6, it took a second, more powerful tow truck to free a truck that had been lodged at the intersection for hours. Residents complained to the city, which dispatched crews to smooth out the asphalt on Torrey Pines Road to make it more flush with the cross-gutter. However, that only helped make it easier for cars and light trucks to get up and down without bottoming out. A city spokesman said warning signs telling large trucks to avoid the intersection would remain. “City staff are in the process of assessing the intersection to see what additional remedies, if any, can be implemented to help with this problem," city spokesman Alec Phillipp said. "We continue to direct commercial trucks to abide by the signage in the area stating that trucks shall not be using this intersection.”Kane said residents want the city to improve its signage and alert directional apps to instruct trucks to avoid the area. 1519

KANSAS CITY, Kansas — A second company associated with Schlitterbahn has been named in a newly unsealed criminal indictment.Henry & Sons Construction is listed as a co-defendant in the murder case of 10 year old Caleb Schwab.The boy died on the Verruckt water slide in 2016.According to the indictment, Henry & Sons was the design and construction company for Verruckt.Reviews posted online by people who identify themselves as former employees raise safety concerns before the Schwab tragedy. On the job website Indeed.com, a person who identifies himself as a former welder for Henry & Sons submitted a February 2015 review for the company.The review claims management would ignore issues or "let them pass" like damaged work equipment.The welder also says managers wouldn't require a safety harness to work six feet off the ground and they "just wanted to get the job done no matter how risky it could be."Other review headlines include "Unsafe Working Environment", "Lack of Management Skills" and "Unorganized."At least one poster, however, gave the company five stars, calling it "an amazing place to work." The latest indictment states company owner Jeff Henry hired a man named John Hunsucker as a consultant for the operation and safety of Verruckt.But Hunsucker told investigators that while he could make suggestions, it was only Henry who made the decisions.The indictment further says Henry never asked Hunsucker to check if the water slide met industry safety standards, which the indictment claims in many ways it did not. 1587

JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) — A Jamul woman who lost her home to the Valley Fire says her horses were likely saved thanks to fire retardant sprayed on her property. Shelley Brown still can't believe how fast the flames were moving. By 3 p.m. Saturday, the fast-moving flames were bearing down on her home on Lawson Hills Road."Ashes falling down around me. I could hear the fire burning. It was scary," said Brown.She only had time to try and round up her five dogs. One of them ran off. She also owned horses, including three she had just rescued, but she had no trailer. Faced with an impossible decision, she opened up the corral gate and released them."It was the worst. It was the worst. You don’t know if you’re doing the right thing," said Brown, choking back tears.As she drove off, she says the flames were within a few hundred feet of her home. She drove up a hill. She couldn't stop thinking of her horses."Went to the top and cried for a little while," said Brown.The next morning, Brown got back to the area and discovered her two mustangs in a neighbor's yard."So relieved. The search and rescue team helped me get them," said Brown.Not far away, she found the remnants of her home. Her two-story home of 10 years had been destroyed, along with all her belongings."I felt strange and little bit eerie," said Brown.And then, she felt joyful. About 20 feet from the burned home, standing in her yard, were the three rescue horses."I was shocked, so happy. Didn’t know what to expect. They weren’t singed," said Brown.A closer look around the property one possible reason they survived: a sign of a firefight."They were putting retardant around the edge of the property. I can still see it, and they kind of surrounded where my horses were. I’m guessing that’s what saved them," said Brown.A week after the flames swept the area, Brown is beginning to go through the rubble. She is thankful to fire crews."They are amazing. They saved my animals, and I'm so grateful," said Brown.This week, Brown decided to buy dozens of breakfast sandwiches for firefighters."It's the least I can do," said Brown.Brown, who recently inherited the home, is not yet sure if the insurance covers wildfires.A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help her rebuild. 2257
