I wear a lot of jewelry that I know makes a woman feel really good; it makes her feel a little bit more bouncy," said, Lilly Ogle, who is a jewelry maker.The cash from her creations sold around the world helps pay the bills."I've sold pieces in Denmark, Finland, Germany—just all over," she said. "I use real stones; I use onyx, pearl, Mother of Pearl, jade, all kinds."Last year, she saved 5. That money was meant to buy Christmas gifts for her family."It took me a whole year to save that money," Ogle said. So she bought 5 in Amazon gift cards at her local Kroger store, and then this happened:"I got home 20 minutes later, tried to use those cards, and they said they have already been used—that's impossible. I just got them," Ogle recalled. She says Amazon told her they couldn't help because she did not order the cards directly from them.Though she had her receipts, Kroger said it could not help because gift cards are like cash. The cards "...cannot be replaced, and no refunds can be made."Kroger also said, "Cashiers have no way to know if the gift card belongs to the person presenting it or to someone else ... since the cards have no names on them and no ID is required for their use.""I'm not trying to get more than I paid for the cards. In the wake of the deadly school shooting in Florida last week, one gun shop owner has decided to act, and will no longer sell AR-15 rifles to people under age 21."I changed policy yesterday. So to buy a long gun, including an AR, you have to be 21 years old," Jason Cazes, from Washington state, told HLN's Carol Costello.Legally, people can buy rifles at 18 years old in Washington, just like in Florida. But you have to be 21 to buy a pistol."I would like to be proactive rather than reactive because the reactive solutions that we come up with don't work," Cazes said, explaining why he's not waiting for legislation to pass.Seventeen people were killed last Wednesday in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It was the ninth-deadliest shooting in modern US history.Nikolas Cruz, 19, confessed to the shooting and is suspected to have obtained at least 10 firearms, all of them rifles.Investigators are trying to track the purchases, which Cruz appears to have made in the past year or so, according to a source briefed on the investigation.These are the victims of the Florida school shootingCazes, who is originally from Louisiana, told Costello he's lived on both sides of the political spectrum and believes that raising the age limit on AR-15s is a solution that both sides will accept."Currently the handgun age is 21. So I would say let's meet in the middle and say let's get this age thing fixed. It all started at 20 years old on stage at the NFL draft when my dream came true, and now here I am about to turn 30 in a few months with a decision I feel is the biggest of my life so far. I will be retiring from the game of football today. I am so grateful for the opportunity that Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick gave to me when drafting my silliness in 2010. My life experiences over the last 9 years have been amazing both on and off the field. The people I have meet, the relationships I have built, the championships I have been apart of, I just want to thank the whole New England Patriots organization for every opportunity I have been giving and learning the great values of life that I can apply to mine. Thank you to all of Pats Nation around the world for the incredible support since I have been apart of this 1st class organization. Thank you for everyone accepting who I am and the dedication I have put into my work to be the best player I could be. But this could be a big waste of time.“Don’t buy something just because it’s on sale,” says Kevin Brasler, the executive editor of the consumer watch dog group Consumer’s Checkbook.Brasler tracked sales and deals at 19 major retailers for nearly a year to find out which companies are telling the truth when advertising their sales.  "Most of these stores offering big ticket items are just offering the same deal they did before and the same deal they offered the next week,” says Brasler of his findings. “It wasn't a special price."  The worst offenders range from big box stores to high-end retailers. And with Black Friday around the corner, Brasler warns consumers to be cautious of those doorbuster deals, especially those early morning sales urging you to get up to get amazing deals on hot items before they go.   "There's for sure no reason to get excited about most of the items they are selling on Black Friday, because we found the sales they are offering then are just about the same as they otherwise are," he says.  Then there are those buy one and get one half-off sales. Brasler says these, too, are often a sham.  "These sales they just call them different sales; it's really rare that they have a super good price that you better grab right then and there otherwise it will go away forever,” Brasler says.  That's because the less expensive item is usually the one that gets the half-off deal.
