(KGTV) -- A smartphone tool aimed at alerting Californians on potential exposure to the coronavirus was launched on Thursday.According to Gov. Newsom’s office, the free CA Notify system “will help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.” Californians can opt into the digital tool “to receive COVID-19 notifications informing them if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for the virus,” Newsom’s office said.Officials confirmed CA Notify is “a completely private, anonymous and secure tool that does not collect location data from any device and never shares user identities.”iPhone users can enable CA Notify by going to Settings, and then to Exposure Notifications. From there, users will have the option to Turn On Exposure Notifications. Users will then choose United States, followed by California.Android device users who want to be notified will have to download the CA Notify app from the Google Play store.How CA Notify functions, according to state officials:“When individuals voluntarily activate CA Notify, the tool uses Bluetooth technology to exchange random codes between phones without revealing the user’s identity or location.If a CA Notify user tests positive for COVID-19, they will receive a verification code to plug into the app, if they choose. (KGTV and CNN) - Newly released video from a passenger shows the moments before and after strong winds led to the crash of an Aeromexico plane in northern Mexico.Flight 2431 had just left Durango, Mexico for Mexico City on Tuesday when it took a nose dive.Video shows the plane fall before flames erupt outside the window. The plane skidded off the runway at the Guadalupe Victoria International Airport until it stopped about 300 meters away, according to Durango’s governor.RELATED: A plane crashed in Mexico but everyone on board survived99 passengers and four crew members were on board including Ashley Garcia, who recorded the video. Everyone evacuated the plane using its emergency evacuation slides before flames engulfed the aircraft, officials said. Although 49 people were hospitalized, no one died.Anabel Estrada -- a passenger from Joliet, Illinois -- felt like the aircraft had been battling against the heavy rain and wind before it hit the ground twice during the crash."The second impact was a lot stronger. This is when I jumped and hit my head against the ceiling," Estrada said. (CNN) -- The Bay Area has many murals, with images of everyone from Robin Williams to Nipsey Hussle gracing its buildings.Now, there's a new name to add to that list: Greta Thunberg.A mural of the Swedish teenage climate activist, whose movement has caught the attention of the world, is set to be completed next Tuesday.Located in downtown San Francisco near Union Square (420 Mason St., for all you locals), the mural features Thunberg from the chest up — gazing straight into our souls, lips pursed.It's enough to make anyone stop and consider their environmental impact.And that's kind of the point, said Paul Scott, executive director of OneAtmosphere.org — the nonprofit that's funding the project.The organization wanted to focus on art celebrating climate activists, Scott told CNN. When brainstorming people to feature, Thunberg was the first person that came to mind."If we can amplify her message and get more people involved and listening to what she's saying, then we're doing some good," he said.The overall feedback has been incredibly positive, he said. But the most critical reactions have been from those who haven't recognized her."They're struck by the image and want to learn more," he said. "If they take the time to learn more about what she's trying to share, that I think has an impact on most people. Makes them want to help."Andrés Petreselli is the artist behind the mural. He also did the city's Robin Williams one, which is how Scott found his work.Petreselli is donating his time to the cause and told CNN he feels connected to everything Thunberg is doing.
