"Flap Your Jacks" is bringing its own take on the traditional breakfast dish to North Park later this summer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — County public health officials are urging locals who attended indoor services and events at a Kearny Mesa church to quarantine for two weeks after a COVID-19 outbreak linked to the location.The county says anyone who attended Awaken Church at 7620 Balboa Avenue between Nov. 15 and 22 should quarantine for 14 days after their last date of visiting the church and watch for coronavirus symptoms.Officials added that anyone who was at the church within that time frame should get tested for the virus.Generally, the county does not reveal the locations of community outbreaks and has long advocated against the practice. In this instance, public health officials say it's necessary to, "prevent the spread and occurrence of additional cases," and that, "in this case, public health has been unable to identify and notify all of those exposed."In a letter to the church, the county said while the community outbreak linked to the church doesn't mean that anyone contracted COVID-19 at the location, everyone who has attended events at the location should quarantine for 14 days.A community outbreak is three or more COVID-19 cases from different households within two weeks at one location."You should review your current plans to prevent COVID-19 at your location and determine if there are actions that you can take to reduce the likelihood that your staff, customers, or visitors could contract this infection," the letter said.The county added that anyone who has attended the church, as well as the public in general, should continue to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and avoid large gatherings.With the exception of two days, San Diego County has seen new COVID-19 cases spike to more than 1,000 cases a day over the last week. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As COVID-19 cases surge, Governor Gavin Newsom says he’s considering the possibility of a statewide curfew that could draw on examples from Europe and the Middle East.The restrictions could also be informed by policies in San Diego County. The state has asked San Diego County to provide information about its 10 pm mandated closure policy for restaurants, a county spokesman said.Starting Friday, Los Angeles County will enact a similar measure it’s calling a “business curfew” that will require restaurants and other non-essential businesses to close at 10 pm.“We have a lot of questions about what [a statewide curfew] looks like,” Newsom said in a press conference Monday. “Who does it impact? Who doesn’t it impact? What does a real curfew mean in terms of certain kinds of industry and business activities? That’s what we’re referring to in this space.”Newsom seemed to suggest a statewide curfew isn’t a foregone conclusion, but said he is reviewing studies on curfews in France, Germany and Saudi Arabia. He later cited Portugal as another potential example.The decision on how to craft a curfew policy will be based on data from those studies, he said.In all four countries, restrictions have changed over time and it is not clear which iterations California is reviewing. In Saudi Arabia, the kingdom covered 60 percent of employee salaries in the private sector and made healthcare free for everyone in the country.If the upcoming restrictions in Los Angeles County are any indicator, California’s statewide curfew could be very similar to restrictions already in place in San Diego County. But Dr. Oren said there would still be one significant difference: messaging.“I do think some of the words we’ve been using have become kind of stale,” he said, referring to phrases like stay-at-home orders.Simply labeling a policy as a “curfew” might help change the public’s perception of the dangers of the pandemic, he said. 4319

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Court documents are giving a glimpse into the past of the 26-year-old accused of killing his parents and sister in a Logan Heights house fire.Wilber Romero is accused of starting the fire at the home on the 3100 block of Clay Street around 4:30 a.m. October 13. 44-year-old Jose Romero died at the scene while his wife and daughter, 46-year-old Nicolasa Maya-Romero and 21-year-old Iris Romero died at the hospital in the days following the blaze.The family’s 23-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son were also hospitalized. Wilber is facing several charges in the fire, including first-degree murder, arson and attempted first-degree murder. Court documents show it wasn’t the first time he allegedly targeted his family. He reportedly attacked his father with a brick and rocks and damaged his car in September of 2018. The incident prompted a police standoff that ended when police shot bean bags at Wilber and released a police dog, documents show. The documents go on to state Wilber was in a car accident when he was 6-years-old and that he has suffered from a learning disability since the crash. According to the documents, Wilber also struggled with drug addiction. 1203

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California Highway Patrol has identified the man who died after slamming into a tree on the Sea World Drive on-ramp Saturday. CHP says 26-year-old Jacob Eugene Arnell was killed when the Cadillac Escalade he was driving at a high rate of speed overturned and hit a tree. The crash happened around 9 a.m. Saturday on the right shoulder of Sea World Drive. Arnell was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The medical examiner’s toxicology report in pending, CHP says. Arnell was the only one inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. 618
