(KGTV) — A reminder to dog owners as hot weather settles into San Diego: Watch out for your pooch's paws.The general rule of thumb for hot weather is if it's too hot to put your hand on the ground, it's too hot for your dog's paws.In Medical Lake, Wash., a dog named Olaf is now recovering after its owner failed to properly protect his dog's paws. The Medical Lake Veterinary Hospital posted photos showing Olaf's pads burned off:"Olaf walked over a mile ... before his owner realized his pads were burned, and even then he wasn't whining or limping!" the hospital posted. "He is one tough cookie (and exceptionally sweet cookie.)"Olaf's owner told KEPR he didn't notice his dog's injury until he saw bloody paw prints on the ground and that the the injury exposed raw muscle.Veterinary experts suggest dog owners protect their dog's paws using pet boots, paw wax, or socks. (KGTV) - An earthquake struck northern Mexico’s Baja California peninsula Monday, causing tremors felt in San Diego County.The 4.8 quake was located near Alberto Oviedo Mota at 12:18 p.m.The initial quake was followed by a 3.3 aftershock in the same area seven minutes later.Alberto Oviedo Mota is roughly 160 miles from San Diego. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the shaking in San Diego County was in the II-III or IV categories, meaning weak to light. The strongest shaking reported in the U.S. was in El Centro, which was considered moderate.There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries. 626

(KGTV) - A San Bernardino County woman is suing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and state Natural Resources Agency for not acknowledging the existence of Bigfoot.Claudia Ackley told The Press-Enterprise she ran into the long-fabled creature while hiking in Lake Arrowhead last year. Ackely said she was hiking late one March day when she and her two daughters ran into a Sasquatch."I ran into a Sasquatch – a Bigfoot. We were face to face. He was 30 feet up in the tree," Akley told the paper. "He looked like a Neanderthal man with hair all over him. He had solid black eyes. He had no expression on his face at all. He did not show his teeth. He just stared at the three of us."Ackley said her daughter told her she saw two other creatures run away following the encounter, adding that her daughter captured the encounter on video - which Press-Enterprise published online."People have to be warned about these things.
