Two medical facilities have advised the state of Louisiana that they are laying off more than 250 employees because of damage sustained during Hurricane Laura.WARN notices, which are required when a certain number or percentage of employees are to lose their jobs, were sent to the state by the Lake Charles Memorial Health System and Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Lake Charles.LCMHS has laid off 205 employees, and Oceans has laid off about 50, according to their WARN letters to the state."Lake Charles Memorial Health System will experience a reduction in its workforce, and a number of employees of the Moss Memorial Campus, support services and the Archer Campus will experience layoffs, as a result of damage sustained from Hurricane Laura," the September 28 WARN letter states. "It is with regret that I must report to you that the company has decided to reduce its operations at Lake Charles Memorial Health System. As a result, we anticipate that we will permanently lay off approximately 205 employees on today."The company's website indicates that many facilities are now open for business. Two people were fatally shot during a video game tournament at a shopping and dining complex Sunday in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, Sheriff Mike Williams said.Nine other people suffered gunshot wounds and two people were injured fleeing the area, Williams said.The gunman, identified as 24-year old David Katz, of Baltimore, Maryland, took his own life inside Chicago Pizza after the shooting, the sheriff said. Two men are in jail after police say they stole a car -– with an infant inside.About 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business in Boise, Idaho.“Evidence indicates that a car had been left running outside of a store, when it was stolen by two men,” according to a Boise Police Department news release. A 6-month-old infant was in the car when it was stolen. A parent pursued the car, until the driver stopped several blocks away.“One of the men exited with the child, who was still strapped into the infant car seat.  (The parent) safely took the child from the man. Thankfully, the child was unharmed,” the release stated.The suspect, later identified as Raymundo Gutierrez, 23, of Boise, was detained at the scene until officers arrived.  The other male fled in the stolen vehicle, officers said.Gutierrez was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with accessory to grand theft, a felony.About 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Boise Police received information that the stolen vehicle had been recovered in Canyon County -- and the driver, later identified as Robert DeShazo, was booked into the Canyon County Jail. Two police officers were among four people killed in a shooting in Fredericton, New Brunswick, police in the Canadian provincial capital said Friday."No names are being released at this time.
