(KGTV) — A judge increased bail for the woman accused of hitting a 9-year-old boy with her car and driving away last Thursday. Courtney Webber appeared in court for the very first time since the crash. Webber's bail was increased to 0,000. The 25-year-old is accused of running a red light and hitting the boy, on his bike, as he was crossing the street at the intersection of Sunshine Avenue and West Main Street in El Cajon. The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. The child was on his way to school.RELATED: El Cajon hit-and-run crash suspect found hiding under bedEl Cajon Police used surveillance video near the scene to find Webber. She was located about 12 hours later, hiding under a bed at her mother's Lakeside home. Court documents indicate Webber was on probation for a previous DUI conviction and had a suspended license. The 9-year-old boy hasn't been identified but attorneys tell 10News he is still recovering at a local hospital. (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's bomb/arson detectives were called to investigate a house fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon.Firefighters and deputies were called to the 1600 block of Via Elisa just before 3 p.m. Wednesday after the fire broke out at the home.Strong winds threatened nearby structures, forcing deputies to evacuate the homes, the SDSO said.Based on the initial investigation, Sheriff's bomb/arson detectives were called to the scene.The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the investigation was ongoing late Wednesday. 572

EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Crews are working to clear the scene of a semi truck fire that shut down a portion of Interstate 8 early Sunday morning.The semi truck caught on fire about 5 a.m. along westbound I-8 between 2nd Street and Mollison Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol.Responding fire crews said that 40 ft trailer was completely engulfed in flames. The fire blocked the far right lane for a couple of hours.A sig alert was issued about 7:45 am for the 2nd Street on ramp to westbound I-8.Crews remain on the scene working to clear the area of debris.The Sig-alert remained in effect as of 10:45 a.m., and motorists are asked to proceed through the area with caution or use alternate routes.  717

Echoing sentiments shared before Thanksgiving, the CDC is pleading with Americans to stay home this holiday season to slow the spread of the coronavirus."The best thing for Americans to do in the upcoming holiday season is to stay at home and not travel,'' said Dr. Henry Walke, CDC's COVID-19 incident manager, during a news briefing Wednesday."Cases are rising. Hospitalizations are increasing, Deaths are increasing. We need to try to bend the curve, stop this exponential increase,'' Walke continued.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had similar advice ahead of Thanksgiving, and still the TSA reported some of the highest rates of passengers since the pandemic started in the few days ahead of the holiday. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the TSA screened 1.17 million travelers, a record high since the pandemic started.For those who decide to travel, the CDC now recommends people get tested for COVID-19 both before and after their trips. Their guidance is to test one to three days before travel and again three to five days after travel. They also strongly recommend reducing nonessential activities and quarantining for several days around travel.Health experts, including the White House coronavirus task force is urging those who don’t get tested to act like they could be infectious and quarantine after travel to reduce the potential spread.Walke said the CDC expects to see an increase in the already high level of coronavirus cases in the next few days from Thanksgiving travel.There have been more than 13.7 million positive cases of coronavirus in this country since the pandemic started, more than 180,000 new cases were recorded December 2.
