DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - For the past five days, five shark sightings have been reported off North San Diego County beaches, Del Mar lifeguards tell 10News. A juvenile shark, about 5 feet long, was spotted Friday afternoon. It did not show signs of aggressive behavior, lifeguards said. The water was not cleared of swimmers and surfers. Del Mar’s shark sightings started Monday and have continued every day this week. Sighting locations include 15th and 29th streets, City of Del Mar officials reported. DENVER - A Colorado gun store owner who appeared on the reality TV show 'American Guns' on Discovery Channel has been sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for tax fraud and dealing without a license.Richard Wyatt, 54, was sentenced to 78 months on Thursday.Wyatt operated the Gunsmoke gun shop in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He was convicted last year on 10 counts, including not reporting income to the IRS.According to court records, Wyatt surrendered his federal firearms license in 2012 for unspecified violations but continued to sell guns from his store by working with another gun shop that had a license. Prosecutors said Wyatt entered sales from his store into the computer system as "miscellaneous" instead of gun sales and had customers go to the other store to fill out the background check paperwork.The court found that a total of 490 guns were involved in Wyatt's illegal operation, all of which the court ordered forfeited. 938

DENVER, Colo. — Voters in Denver, Colorado, overwhelmingly voted to pass Ballot Measure 2J to lift the cities more than 30 years old ban on pit bulls.Ballot Measure 2J passed with 64.5% voting to lift the ban and 35.5% voting to keep the ban in place.Passing the measure will allow the city to grant a provisional permit to pit bull owners as long as the owner microchips the animal and complies with additional requirements set by Denver Animal Protection.Denver Council member Christopher Herndon led the charge, proposing the idea to lift the pit bull ban in January.Denver City Council voted 7-4 to repeal the ban in February, which would have replaced the law with what could be best described as a “probation” for pit bulls. However, Mayor Hancock vetoed the ordinance just days later, saying in a letter he could not support the legislation because it did not, "fully addresses the very real risk to a severe injury that can result from attacks from these particular dog breeds, especially should they happen to a child."The law banning pit bulls was put in place in 1989 after 20 people had been attacked by pit bulls in the previous five years.One was a 3-year old who died from the attack in 1986. Hancock argued in his letter to the council that less than 20% of all pets in Denver are currently licensed, which "raises significant questions about the effectiveness of this proposed new system."Proponents said breed-specific bans do not work and enforcing the ban has cost the City of Denver more than .8 million.Aurora, Lone Tree, Louisville, and Commerce City still have bans on pit bulls, though Castle Rock repealed their ban in 2018.
