Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen has announced a data breach that could affect customers who ate at the restaurant late last year or early this year.The restaurant said on Aug. 16 Cheddar's learned that between Nov. 3, 2017 and Jan. 2, 2018 an unauthorized person or persons gained access to payment card information in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.The affected information involved payment card information and payment card numbers.Information from about 567,000 payment card numbers may have been exposed through affected restaurants, according to Reuters.More information can be found here.  849

Cathedral High School in Indianapolis announced the official name change of its entrepreneurship course to the "Chris Beaty Entrepreneurship Class."Chris Beaty was an Indianapolis business owner and former Indiana University football player who was beloved in the community.Beaty was one of two men who were shot and killed when violence erupted during police brutality demonstrations in Downtown Indianapolis. He was 38."There was so much pain caused by Chris's tragic murder, I felt it was too narrow to hear him only referred to as a former Cathedral and IU football player," Alex Purvis, who played football with Beaty at Cathedral High School in the early 2000's, said. "Chris was so much more than that, and I want to do my part to make sure his legacy continues at Cathedral."Purvis spearheaded the initiative to make the name change of the private school's entrepreneur course because he wanted to make sure Beaty was known for more than just football. Purvis says Beaty was not only an entrepreneur but says he was a friend, he was compassionate, and he always made people feel welcomed."He made everyone feel like a VIP. Few people have that ability," Purvis said.Purvis only knew Beaty for one year at Cathedral — but that was enough for Beaty to make an impact on Purvis.Purvis described himself as, "the smallest kid on the football team" his sophomore year, and Beaty was a senior star-athlete."Years later, when I started running into Chris downtown and various events, Chris always made me feel like I was the star quarterback on Cathedral's team. For no other reason than that was his genuine personality—he made people feel special. His warmth and positivity was infectious," Purvis said.Purvis said to best #LiveLikeChris, it's fitting to name Cathedral's entrepreneurship class in Beaty's honor. Beaty was always working on "the next big thing," Purvis said."I think the root of entrepreneurship is having the ability to take an idea and outlining the steps to make it happen," Purvis said. "That's exactly what Chris did. He was a doer, a leader, and a builder—his friends turned into business partners and vice versa."Both Cathedral High School and Indiana University have also created the "Chris Beaty Foundation Scholarship," in his honor."Using that foundation and exploring entrepreneurship in high school will hopefully open students' eyes to all of the possibilities they have in college and beyond. CHICAGO — Millions of frontline healthcare workers are rolling up their sleeves for the first of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine. First out is Pfizer’s vaccine, and now, an FDA panel has recommended Moderna’s vaccine for emergency use authorization. The available Pfizer shot requires a complex and precise procedure for it to work.Before the needle even breaks the skin, a strict protocol must be followed precisely.“We're going to put it take it from the negative 80 ultra-low storage and we're gonna defrost it to refrigerator temperatures,” explained Erin Shaughnessy, director of pharmacy at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. “That's gonna give us five days of stability for the vaccine.”It’s like something out of Mission Impossible.“We installed additional security cameras and we have additional security protocols,” said Shaughnessy.She’s charged with ensuring the vaccine is securely handled and properly prepped before it’s injected.“We don't want to risk wasting any of the drugs,” she said. “The stuff is liquid gold right now.”That liquid gold must be stored at 80 below zero, in a secure location that only a few pharmacists have access to.“We have to take it out of the ultra-low freezer and move it to a refrigerator just to thaw for three hours.”Once thawed, it cannot be re-stored.“You can't put the medication back into the freezer,” said Shaughnessy. “Once inside, you have to use it or you're going to lose it. It's gonna have a five-day refrigerated expiration.”Pfizer’s vaccine protocol also requires the vaccine to be protected from UV light and the dilution must be gently inverted exactly 10 times. Shaken too hard, says Shaughnessy, and it could go bad.“It's very, very specific," she explained.That’s when the clock starts ticking.“Once they're thawed and reconstituted, basically diluted down to make the actual doses, then that's when we have six hours on the clock going from that dilution point into someone's arm,” said Luke Hvass, a clinical pharmacist at Rush.Each dose is recorded and logged. It’s a symphony of procedures that must come together like clockwork.“It's a lift for a lot of hospitals, a lot of organizations, but I think it's a challenge everybody is ready to rise to because everyone is so excited about getting this vaccine process started,” said Shaughnessy.The Department of Health and Human Services has expanded the scope of who can act as vaccinators. In addition to pharmacists, interns, pharmacy students and pharmacy technicians who complete 20 hours of training will be added to the vaccination workforce to help handle the massive undertaking. 2619

CANTON, Ohio -- An Ohio police department is investigating three separate homicides that happened within 24 hours, including the death of a 1-year-old twin boy who was shot and killed while sleeping.Police in Canton, which is about 60 miles south of Cleveland, say the first homicide happened on Tuesday at around 8:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of Louisiana Court Northwest. A 31-year-old man, identified as Ronald Pleasant, was shot and killed at the scene. A 21-year-old man was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.The second homicide happened in the 100 block of Pulley Place SE at around 10:43 p.m. A 20-year-old man, identified as Brandon Bush, and another 20-year-old man, were both shot. Both were transported to local hospitals by the Canton Fire Department. Bush died from his injuries.The third homicide happened at around 2:28 a.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Clarendon Avenue SW. One-year-old twin brothers were shot while sleeping inside a home on Clarendon Avenue. Both were transported by the Canton Fire Department to local hospitals where one of the brothers, identified as Ace Lucas, died. CARLSBAD (KGTV) - 39 orphaned puppies are set to arrive in San Diego Sunday. They will be flying into McClellan-Palomar Airport from Houston, Texas.This is a joint-effort by the Helen Woodward Animal Center and Operation Pets Alive!, a non-profit that rescues animals displaced by natural disasters.Related: San Diego volunteers help homeless pups caught in TexasThis comes after 64 dogs and cats were taken in by the Rancho Santa Fe animal shelter last September following hurricane Harvey.The orphaned puppies will receive medical checks once in Carlsbad in hopes of finding their forever homes.
