A runner in Sunday's London Marathon who appeared on the BBC television show "Masterchef: The Professionals" collapsed during the race and later died, according to the event organizers.Matt Campbell, 29, collapsed after running 22.5 miles of the 26.2-mile course, the London Marathon organization said in a statement. Despite receiving immediate medical treatment, Campbell died later at a hospital. The cause of death has not yet been established.The organizers offered their "sincere condolences to Matt's family and friends," adding that the family has asked for privacy.Campbell's family paid tribute to an "inspirational son and brother," who was an avid marathon runner. He also was a professional chef who appeared on the competitive cooking show "Masterchef: The Professionals" in 2017.He was running the London Marathon to raise money for The Brathay Trust, which inspires vulnerable people to make positive changes in their lives, and in memory of his father, who died in 2016. A video recently released shows a school bus getting swept away by floodwaters in Texas.The incident happened Oct. 16 near Austin after a driver drove past a barricade and attempted to cross a flooded area.The bus gets caught up in the water and floats down a creek before the driver completely loses control.A 12-year-old student was a passenger on the bus as it finally came to rest on the side of a few trees.Emergency responders rescued the driver and the student.Officials report the driver has since been fired and is facing charges. 552

A pair of children, ages 1 and 3, were shot inside of a car Thursday evening outside the University Of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, the Jackson Police Chief told the Clarion-Ledger reported. The shooting briefly prompted fears of an active shooter on the university's campus, causing a heavy police response. The Clarion-Ledger reported that one child was shot in the leg, and the other in the torso. Their conditions have not been publicly released. Following the shooting, a female driver transported the children to the hospital. The suspect was still on the loose as of Thursday evening.  655

A San Diego woman spent months stealing from visitors inside some of the city's fanciest waterfront hotels, Harbor Police say.Anjeanette Crumrine, 49, allegedly stole more than ,000 worth of items -- largely from the Hilton Bayfront, Manchester Grand Hyatt, and Sheraton Harbor Island. Harbor Police say she also stole a violin worth ,000 from a classroom at Point Loma Nazarene University. "It worked for her, so she just continued to do what she was comfortable with," said Harbor Police Sgt. Michael Dye. Crumrine often targeted guests attending conventions at the large hotels. She'd walk in, pick up a suitcase, purse, or briefcase, go into an empty bathroom, pick through it, before leaving, police say. Crumrine is also accused of using the stolen credit cards to buy gift cards, and one time changed into stolen clothes inside one of the hotel bathrooms before walking out. "If it's a convention you have people moving in and out of rooms," Dye said. "It's an easy target because she would go unnoticed."Police arrested Crumrine?on April 18 after a slow speed chase through Valencia Park. But the threat of petty crime isn't over.Harbor Police report 218 property crime instances so far this year, up 22 percent from the same time period in 2017."We're just extra careful. We carry all of our stuff most of the time," said Jennifer Jones, visiting from Denver. "I don't put my stuff down. I hear too many stories like that."Crumrine is now in custody at Las Colinas, accused of, identity theft, burglary, and felony evading police, among other charges. A University of Florida research unit killed more than 150 birds over the past 10 years, the Gainesville Sun reported, citing U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service documents.The paper says that of the birds killed at the Plant Science Research and Education Unit, 47 were sandhill cranes and 105 were ring-billed gulls.While the Florida sandhill crane isn't considered endangered, it is a threatened species according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.Director of the unit, Jim Boyer, told the Sun the cranes and gulls had damaged or eaten crops grown for research, including high-value peanuts part of a breeding study.The unit says it has since decided to use non-lethal means to protect crops from cranes. 732
