SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities asked the public to keep an eye out for a missing Lemon Grove teenager with a history of running away from home.The last known sighting of Alonna Wintland, 15, was on July 31, when she left her home in the 8000 block of Lemon Grove Way in a car driven by an unidentified man, according to sheriff's officials.At the time, Alonna, who did not take her cellphone or debit card with her when she disappeared, was wearing beige shorts, a white shirt and sandals. Her whereabout since have been unknown.Alonna is white, 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 235 pounds. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities Wednesday publicly identified a 27-year-old man who was fatally shot last weekend in an apparently unprovoked attack near the handball courts at the Linda Vista Recreation Center.Officers responding to reports of shots fire around 11 a.m. Sunday at the recreation center, 7064 Levant St., found San Diego-resident Israel Castro suffering from at least one gunshot to his upper body, San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown said.Paramedics took Castro to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Brown said.While officers were at the hospital, a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound was brought in by a private vehicle, the lieutenant said. The man told officers he was also at the Linda Vista Recreation Center when he was shot.Witnesses told police that a man wearing a mask and shorts was seen running from the scene and getting into a white four-door vehicle that sped off southbound on Linda Vista Road, Brown said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Military officials today publicly identified a U.S. Marine who was fatally injured in a weekend training accident at Camp Pendleton.Staff Sgt. Joshua Braica, 29, was behind the wheel of a MRZR tactical vehicle that overturned Saturday at the military station north of Oceanside, according to Maj. Nicholas Mannweiler of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command. Two other Marines suffered minor injuries in the crash.Braica, a critical-skills operator with 1st Marine Raider Battalion, was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he succumbed to his injuries Sunday evening.The Sacramento native enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2010 and served as an intelligence specialist with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, and with Marine Aircraft Group 36.Braica deployed to the Pacific Command area of operations with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2011, and to the Indo-Pacific Command region with 1st Marine Raider Battalion in 2017.His military decorations include a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.He is survived by his wife and son. 1284

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Flames tore through a large commercial building in the Morena area Friday, causing extensive damage and sending a thick plume of smoke into the air near Mission Bay.The blaze in the 1200 block of Morena Boulevard erupted about 5:40 p.m., the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reported.Police closed down the north-south street to through traffic while firefighters worked to subdue the intense flames.Crews were still working to get the blaze under control as of 6:30 p.m. and trying to get inside the two-story structure to check on a report there might be someone inside, according to SDFRD public affairs.There were no immediate reports of injuries. 677
