Tuesday night, it was a who's who of A-list celebrities, all taking part in the Hand in Hand benefit to help people impacted by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. In total, the even raised more than 44 million dollars, but it may take much more to help victims fully recover.Nearly three weeks after Hurricane Harvey and you see debris and destroyed furniture in many Houston neighborhoods. At the Tyty home, recovery is a slow process, with some bright spots making it a little easier."Fortunately our stove is currently working," says Tosha Atibu. "It can still work."Atibu's home is gutted out, still she, her husband and four children are still living in it."I know it's not a safe place to be but I don't know where else I can go," Atibu says.More than 20,000 people are still in shelters or FEMA hotels in Texas. And even though flood waters are gone, mold and mosquitoes are still here along with the threat of sickness and disease. In hard-hit Port Arthur and Beaumont, people are still struggling to find the basics like food and water.But right now, all eyes are focused on Florida where people are just beginning picking up the pieces left in Irma's wake. They're clearing debris from roads and checking for damage, so that those who evacuated can return to their homes.  But millions are still without power and boil water advisories are in place in many areas.In the U.S. Virgin Islands people are still being evacuated to Puerto Rico.St. Thomas Evacuee Patrice Harris says, "Being in a state where I'm not sure what's going to happen next, not sure where I'm gonna get my next meal, that's something that's very discomforting for me. So I'm happy to have been able to leave the island."All said, this is going to be a long recovery. The latest estimates show together, hurricanes Harvey and Irma have caused between 150 billion and 200 billion dollars in damage. Mike Lee announced Friday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.In a statement released on Twitter, Lee says he experienced symptoms Thursday morning and took a test on the advice of doctors. The Senator says his symptoms are "consistent with longtime allergies."The announcement comes just hours after the news that President Trump and the First Lady had also tested positive for the coronavirus.On Tuesday, Lee met with Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett. The two sat in chairs that were distanced several feet apart but took a photo before the meeting in which they were closer together. He also spoke to reporters after the meeting, removing his mask in front of the cameras as most lawmakers generally do.According to NBC News, Barrett tested negative for COVID-19. UPDATE: The fire was 100 percent contained at 250 acres by Friday at 6:20 p.m. All lanes of SR-78 reopened by 5 p.m.RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Crews Thursday stopped the forward rate of spread of the Rangeland Fire burning in the Pasqual Valley near Ramona. The blaze started along San Pasqual Valley Road around 1 p.m. near the San Dieguito River Trail and quickly grew to 250 acres. The fire is 60 percent contained. The eastbound lanes on State Route 78 closed at Bandy Canyon Road due to the fire, but are expected to reopen by 10 p.m. The 78 will be down to one lane on Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Highland Valley Road was also closed between Bandy Canyon and Archie Moore Road due to a big rig that was stuck on the road.  803

Two young brothers in Peoria, Arizona, are hoping to bring smiles to COVID-19 patients by sending homemade cards to Valley hospitals.Hurshneet and Pravneet Chadha said they created "Project Smile AZ" to spread positivity. They got the idea after listening to their parents, who are both doctors, speak about COVID-19 patients going through treatment alone in hospitals."We wanted to make them feel accompanied on their journey to get better," said 15-year-old Hurshneet. "We want to make sure everyone is fine, and we want to make sure everyone is happy."When they started, they delivered 150 cards to Banner Health. The response was so great that they decided to keep going."We've had many people reach out to us to send cards to our PO box, as well as hospital CEOs have reached out to us, sending us thank you letters to our email so that made us very proud," he said.Now, they've distributed 1,200 cards to the Navajo Nation, Circle the City, a nonprofit, and several hospitals in the Valley."It helps the patients when we give it to them, and they're saying they put a smile on their faces when they receive them as well, so that's my favorite part," said 12-year-old Pravneet.Through social media, they've gotten classmates and other groups to donate cards, but they make most of them in their living room."We come up with anything that we think would inspire the patient," said Hurshneet.
