Twitter is reopening its application for people to apply for a verified badge.The social media giant announced through a blog post that they are working on a new verification policy and are inviting feedback from the public before they implement it. Tucson police Chief Chris Magnus offered his resignation during a press conference on Wednesday.Magnus made the announcement about an April 21 incident in which a man died while in police custody.The AP reported the man who died was 27-year-old Carlos Ingram-Lopez.The medical examiner’s office didn’t determine a manner of death but said Ingram-Lopez died of sudden cardiac arrest while intoxicated by cocaine and physically restrained, the Associated Press reported.Magnus has served in the role since January 2016. Two gun shops in Southwest Florida are offering free gun training for teachers in response to the Parkland shooting.A free class at North Fort Myers Guns is designed to educate teachers about guns so they can protect themselves and others.A new state law allows schools districts the option to arm teachers under certain conditions.  They would be required to go through 144 hours of training and an evaluation process with law enforcement.Robert Lewis, the owner of North Fort Myers Guns, said the training he is offering will give teachers a jump start on how to use a gun.Lewis said it's a two-hour class where teachers can learn the basics and then they will go to a local gun range a few days later to practice firing a gun."My trainer takes you out to his private range in North Fort Myers. You will shoot any number of weapons you want. He makes it a true learning experience," Lewis said.The training is normally , but Lewis said he's offering it for free for teachers because he believes arming teachers will help protect kids in school.Two teachers have already signed up for Tuesday's training class. Lewis said depending on how many teachers sign up, he will hold a class at least once a month.Fowler Firearms in Ft. Myers, Florida is offering a similar service.After receiving a local donation, the manager John Dezendorf is offering the first five local certified teachers who sign up a brand new firearm and free platinum memberships.The membership includes free range time and gun rentals for a year.Dezendorf said whether the teachers are required to train through the state or county, his training services will give them the extra practice they need."The number one thing is to keep children safe and the only things to keep kids safe is to have people around them that are able to protect them. Two soldiers were killed in an Army AH-64E Apache helicopter crash at the local training area of their base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Friday night, a statement from the 101st Airborne Division said.The accident happened at about 9:50 p.m. local time Friday evening and involved two soldiers from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, the statement said.The crew was conducting routine training when the accident occurred and there were no other casualties, it said. Twitter says it will begin removing misinformation about COVID-19 vaccinations from its site. That includes false claims that the virus is not real, debunked claims about the effects of receiving the vaccine. It will also remove baseless claims suggesting immunizations and vaccines are used to intentionally cause harm or to control people. Twitter said in a blog post on Wednesday that it will start enforcing the new policy next week. If people send tweets in violation of the rules, they will be required to delete them before they are able to tweet again.
