"China is very much willing to communicate with every of the other SCO member on its respective development strategy and the plan for regional economic cooperation," said Wang Shouwen, assistant minister of commerce, also at the briefing.
It was in December 2010 during China's tenure as Chair of what was then BRIC that South Africa become a member of this important grouping, BRICS.
"Any initiative that connects people is a positive one," he said. "To revitalize ancient connections based on modern needs is of benefit to everybody involved."
