SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman is dead after being hit by a car in Mid-City Monday night. The crash happened around 6 p.m. on the 4600 block of El Cajon Boulevard. San Diego Police say the woman, who is in her 60s, was pinned beneath the car before an ambulance arrived. She was later pronounced dead. Stood there for a good minute and stared," said Spelce.At first she thought the culprit was the wet, windy weather. Two days later, she took a closer look and realized the wood was not rotted and wasn't so sure about her wind theory. She then assumed it might have been some bad driver or teen driver, so she decided to look at her Ring doorbell video."It was a little shocking," said Spelce.In the video, a mail truck is seen pulling alongside the curb, before running right into the post and toppling the mailboxes. The postal carrier backs up the truck, pulls forward, and soon after, reaches down and delivers the mail. The truck then drives off, apparently resuming its route."There was no note. No nothing. Just a big mystery," said Spelce.Spelce says the postal carrier added to the mystery when she talked to a neighbor. "She says, 'by the way, your mailboxes are knocked over ... Gosh, I can't imagine how it happened,'" said Spelce.Remember how she continued to deliver the mail after the mailboxes were knocked over? "She was pretending she delivered the mail and then it happened ... It's very disappointing," said Spelce.Her toppled post has since been replaced by her HOA. Spelce filed a complaint with the Postal Service. She's doesn't want the mail carrier to lose her job, but hopes she'll finally take responsibility. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A similar Observation Wheel to those in England and Paris could come to Balboa Park for a short term stay.The Cohn Restaurant Group and Sky Views of America presented the idea of the Balboa Park Star to the Balboa Park Committee Meeting on October 1.They hope the wheel would attract more visitors and re-energize the park."We have operated these observation wheels during the pandemic," Vice President of Sky Views of America Ben Pickett said.The gondolas are enclosed and climate controlled. According to the presentation, they are sanitized after each ride and safety protocols comply with state, local and CDC guidelines. Masks would be required for passengers and staff. The presentation was met with excitement by the committee."I love the fact it is innovative and outside the box," Committee Member Victoria Curran said. "This is a terrific idea, I love it!" Committee Member Johanna Schiavoni added."Sometimes it's the craziest ideas that are the best ones," Committee Member Micah Parzen said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after authorities say she was bitten by a rattlesnake near the Torrey Pines Gliderport.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the 33-year-old was hiking nearby trails when she was bitten.The woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
