WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General William Barr, one of President Donald Trump's staunchest allies, is resigning amid lingering tension with the president over the president's baseless claims of election fraud and the investigation into President-elect Joe Biden's son. Barr went to the White House on Monday, where Trump said he submitted his letter of resignation. "Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House," President Trump tweeted on Monday. "Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per the letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family." 670

WASHINGTON (AP) — A second Republican senator has come out in opposition to filling a vacant Supreme Court seat before the Nov. 3 election. And Speaker Nancy Pelosi is asserting without details that the Democratic-led House has “options” for stalling or preventing President Donald Trump from quickly installing a successor to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska says that “for weeks, I have stated that I would not support taking up” a potential nomination as the presidential election neared. “Sadly, what was then a hypothetical is now our reality, but my position has not changed.” 629

Prosecutors say he smacked his girlfriend in a jealous rage for hugging a bartender. In a surprise move, his girlfriend addressed the judge, asking him not to issue a protective order that would keep Valenzuela away from his girlfriend. Prosecutors say he grabbed his girlfriend’s cellphone and hit her face causing her ear to go numb. They also say he chased her to her car and beat on her windows and that she was afraid to let him in the vehicle. WASHINGTON (AP) — Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is committing at least 0 million to help Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in the crucial battleground state of Florida.A spokeswoman for the effort told NBC News that the money will be used to turn out voters for Biden through a mix of television and digital ads. She says ads will be run in both English and Spanish in an effort to target Hispanic voters, a key demographic. The spokesperson says the goal of the effort is to help the Biden campaign save money that can be used in other swing states, like Pennsylvania or Wisconsin.Bloomberg’s spending reflects Democrats’ concerns about the tight race in a state that's a priority for President Donald Trump.A victory for Biden in Florida would significantly complicate Trump’s path to reaching the 270 Electoral College votes needed to secure a second term.Bloomberg launched his own campaign for the Democratic nomination late last year amid worries about the strength of Biden’s campaign, but the billionaire dropped out in March and endorsed Biden. 1078
