SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A judge decided Friday to place a sexually violent predator in the East County community of Boulevard. Michael Joseph Martinez, 64 has multiple previous convictions including child molestation and lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14, according to County Supervisor Dianne Jacob’s office.The judge added Friday that the sheriff’s department will be extra vigilant and security will be heightened.The judge decided to place Martinez at the Department of State Hospitals recommended location of 2135 McCain Valley Road. The schools closest to the address include Clover Flats Elementary School and Jacumba Elementary School, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.A mother of one of the victims from 25 years ago spoke at the hearing saying, “I know that you can’t change the order and I’m glad that there’s going to be very strict ordering, but I hope this doesn’t happen to another child or family.”RELATED: Dianne Jacob slams proposed placement of predatorJacob said the placement would put public safety at risk. She adds that several sexually violent predators have been placed in East County in recent years and in some cases, the convicts ended up violating the conditions of their placement.In a letter to Judge David M. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A pillar in San Diego's art community says it's being forced out of the neighborhood by high rent.La Bodega Gallery and Studios announced Tuesday it's closing its doors after six years following failed lease negotiations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Point Loma grandmother put up Christmas lights to spread cheer during California's stay-home order. It started when Johnene Smith saw Italians singing in solidarity amid a lock down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She then heard about people putting up Christmas lights to brighten neighbors spirits and something clicked."I'm like I can do that! I don't have to leave my house and people can walk by and see the heart and [spread] just a little joy," Smith said.So she put up a glowing heart in her living room window. "I went and found a piece of cardboard, made a heart and poked little holes and put the lights in it, so they could see my heart is out there for everyone." Smith hoped it would bring some much needed joy during the stay-at-home order which is keeping her from her seven grandchildren. "The youngest is going to be a year old in two weeks and we're not going to be able to go to her birthday party," She said sadly.She took this time to focus instead on what she can control, which is her happiness. Particularly, that means reminiscing about Christmastime, "it was really the last time we had joy before everything started was at Christmastime so why not bring back a little joy in a time where we can't control it."Her display went up Friday sparking her neighbors to light up their own homes.Neighbor Jojo Peters was thrilled at the idea. "When Johnene says let's do lights, I said okay! Duncan Hunter’s attorney to the United States Deputy Attorney General discussed possible evidence of extramarital infidelity and excessive drinking.On August 6, Hunter attorney Gregory A. Vega wrote to Rod Rosenstein at the Department of Justice requesting the postponement of this week's campaign fund misuse indictment, and addressed “an overly aggressive prosecution intent on criminalizing content that is civil in nature”.“While there may be evidence of infidelity, irresponsibility, or alcohol dependence, once properly understood, the underlying facts do not equate to criminal activity; these allegations are, however, intended to embarrass and humiliate the Congressman shortly before a crucial election, and also to alienate him from his wife, the only other person under investigation and his intended co-defendant,” wrote Vega.Prosecutors allege the Hunters used more than 0,000 in campaign funds to support a lavish lifestyle and reported the purchases as campaign expenses.The affidavit detailed money spent on hotel rooms for different individuals and various social outings, including one involving 30 shots of tequila. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego man is accused of having and distributing explicit images of minors.According to a federal complaint that was just unsealed authorities allege Gilad Daniel Reifler knowingly distributed visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.The federal documents say agents used peer-to-peer file sharing software to connect to his computer in January 2017 and obtain more than four thousand images. Agents say they were able to connect to the computer on two other dates and obtain more sexually explicit files.According to the complaint in June of 2017 agents searched Reifler’s home where they claim he admitted to obtaining and distributing child pornography via the same P2P file-sharing program that they used to obtain the images from a device in his residence.Court documents say, “following the execution of the search warrant I reviewed media seized from Reifler’s residents. The results showed over 170,000 images and over 10,000 videos depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct on media seized.”A man who identified himself has Gilad Reifler told Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin he had no comment about the allegations.10News tried to get a hold of Reifler’s attorney, but as of this writing have not heard back.The FBI tells Team 10 they can’t comment on anything outside of what’s already in the public documents. 1466
