Congress has passed the biggest investment in national parks in decades.The House voted Wednesday to approve the Great American Outdoors Act, a sweeping conservation and public lands bill, which President Donald Trump has pledged to sign into law. Over the next five years, it will put up to .5 billion towards a backlog in needed maintenance for roads, facilities and more.“So, the park service, instead of doing band-aid fixes, they will have reliable, consistent funding to start doing some of these priority repairs, to ensure that our park service sites are safe, accessible, and they'll be around for generations to come,” said Marcia Argust, Director of the Restore America’s Parks Project.Argust advocated for the Great American Outdoors Act. She says this is the perfect time to make the investment, because Americans are looking to get outdoors more during the COVID-19 pandemic.The parks service has found the legislation will create 100,000 additional jobs. That's on top of the boost to businesses in surrounding communities that rely on visitors.Plus, the recreation industry as a whole supports 5.2 million jobs.“So, those are really important to sustain now more than ever, so this legislation during these times makes a lot of sense,” said Argust.The bill does not call for using taxpayer dollars. (KGTV) — An Air Force pilot who was killed in Vietnam was honored on Tuesday with an official U.S Air Force Memorial Flyover in Coronado.His widow also honored for her years of work, fighting for prisoners of war and those missing in action to be acknowledged. Colonel Arthur "Art" S. Cloie Musumecci sent MTN News a brief video of a woman tripping and falling as a bison charged at her and another person in Yellowstone National Park.Cloie said in an email that the incident happened at Nez Perce Creek. She said the woman "is a Montana local so she knew to play dead in that situation."The woman was not injured and escaped "without a scratch," Cloie said. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — More than 150 students at Colorado College are being quarantined for the next two weeks after one tested positive for the COVID-19 over the weekend.“At first I was like, shocked, but after a little while it sunk in like, 'Wow, that’s 14 days in one room,'” said Colorado College freshman Andrew Kaelin.Kaelin and Oliver Kendall only met Saturday. On Sunday, these roommates found out they will be spending nearly every minute of the next two weeks with each other. Students are allowed to only leave the room for laundry, bathroom and water. Food for the day is delivered to the room.“It’s a good way to get to know someone,” Kendall said.Before moving in, all students were required to take a COVID-19 test and were asked to isolate in their dorm rooms until the results came back.Brian Young, with Colorado College, said the student who tested positive went into the hallway of the dorm rather than staying in the room.“Immediately, as we isolated, the individual did our contact trace, realized, unfortunately, (that they) didn’t follow the guidelines we were after,” Young said.Neither Young or the El Paso County Health Department could say exactly how many came in contact with the student. Whatever the number was, it was enough to lock down Loomis Hall and the 155 first-year students living there.“All of our students are doing fine. No one is symptomatic,” Young told KMGH.Young said anyone showing even one symptom will be tested immediately. Colorado College is also providing students the ability to speak to a mental health expert as needed. CINCINNATI -- When police were sent to Seven Hills School on Tuesday afternoon, they were told a female caller was stuck in a van.The GPS coordinates on that call were within feet of where Kyle Plush, a 16-year-old male student, would be found dead hours later.Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac hasn't yet talked publicly about what happened that day. The police department, which touts itself as a model for transparency, has been quiet about Plush's death. They're planning to hold a news conference at 3 p.m. Thursday.Nearly two days after he suffocated, numerous questions remain about what went wrong and why a teenage boy is dead even as he pleaded with a 911 operator to send help.What we know, and don't knowPlush called 911 at about 3:16 p.m. Tuesday. He knew he was in trouble but struggled to communicate with the operator.
