The toddlers, 1-year-old Jakarter Penn and 2-year-old Keyounte Penn, had burns on their bodies when police found them at the Oakland City West End Apartments in Atlanta.Lamora Williams' family said she struggled most of her life with mental issues and may have been dealing with postpartum at the time of the incident.It’s a tragedy which her sister thinks could have been prevented.“She had issues and the fact that the state failed her, that’s a problem,” said Tabitha Hollingworth.Plus, family say the writing was on the wall. She routinely left her children home alone and had even attempted to cut her wrists.Wearing dark sunglasses to hide her tears, Brenda Williams is saddened, but not surprised that her daughter is now charged with murder.“Mora wasn’t right, she hasn’t been right and what happened three months ago, that the kids father left her, I told him something tragic is going to happen. She’s going to do something to those kids, she’s going to do something to herself,” said Brenda Williams.Williams is charged with two counts of murder and one count of cruelty to children in the first degree. A retired police officer who was falsely accused by many Twitter users of accosting three young adults on a Maryland bicycle trail says he was saddened and scared by the barrage of hate directed against him.John Damskey, a Montgomery County police officer for nearly 30 years, was one of at least two men whose names, photos and personal information were posted by internet vigilantes before police on Friday arrested and charged another man, 60-year-old Anthony Brennan III, with assaulting three people posting flyers protesting the death of George Floyd.Millions of Twitter users have viewed a video of the encounter. Many falsely blamed Damskey, who says the experience has been surreal and terrifying.In a widely-shared video, the man, allegedly Brennan, attacked three young adults last week who were posting flyers in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The video showed a man arguing and grabbing the flyers from one of the victims. The man then pushed his bicycle toward one of the victims who was filming the encounter.“I’ve got a wife who is in tears. My mom is scared to death,” he told The Associated Press on Monday. “It’s sad. It’s scary. It’s something that I don’t ever want to go through again.” 1229

A report prepared for the Senate Intelligence Committee said Russian social media efforts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election included messaging in support of the Green Party 2016 presidential nominee Jill Stein.CNN obtained the report, prepared by New Knowledge, which said the Russian government-linked Internet Research Agency -- a well-known troll farm -- utilized all major social media platforms, and its efforts online included messaging in support of Stein's third party presidential effort.CNN has reached out to Stein for comment on the report.The mentions of Stein online came alongside related and disparate messages noted throughout the report, which said the Internet Research Agency's themes ranged from support for Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and the Black Lives Matter movement to the Tea Party and gun rights.A summation of the report's findings on "comprehensive anti-Hillary Clinton operations" said while the group's assumed Twitter personas had some pro-Clinton content, "the developed Left-wing Twitter personas were still largely anti-Clinton and expressed pro-Bernie Sanders and pro-Jill Stein sentiments."Likewise, the report said "pro-Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein content" were among the group's go-to themes across other platforms.The report's assertion about support for Stein echoed similar accounts in the past about Russian influence online. An indictment of Russian nationals earlier this year from special counsel Robert Mueller said the online effort included encouraging "minority groups not to vote in the 2016 US presidential election or to vote for a third-party US presidential candidate."Throughout her presidential bid, Stein called for a conciliatory approach with Russia, and she has compared Russian interference in the 2016 election with US efforts around the globe.Earlier this year, Stein told CNN she objected to turning over some documents to the Senate Intelligence Committee. A new species of prehistoric reptile has apparently been discovered within the depths of the Petrified Forest National Park in northeastern Arizona.Named Skybalonyx skapter, the fossilized remains are believed to be a new species of drepanosaur, a reported 220-million-year-old burrowing reptile that potentially looked like a combination of an anteater and chameleon, the Petrified Forest National Park said Tuesday in a news release.Skybalonyx skapter, though, may have looked even more peculiar, the release said.Drepanosaurs have been noted to have interesting features, such as "enlarged second claws, bird-like beaks, and tails ending with a claw," the release said.The discovery was made by research teams from Petrified Forest National Park, Virginia Tech, University of Washington, Arizona State University, Idaho State University, and the Virginia Museum of Natural History, according to the release.Their findings were reportedly published on Oct. 8 in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. The study compared the claws of drepanosaurs to Skybalonyx skapter to modern animals, and reportedly found that Skybaonyx skapter's claws were similar to moles, echidnas, and mole-rats.Adam Marsh, the lead paleontologist at the Petrified Forest, said in an email that the bones were discovered during the summers of 2018 and 2019 as part of a paleontological dig.Due to their small size, the remains were reportedly difficult to find using traditional methods. Essentially, research teams used a series of metal screens and water to sift and break down rocks to find the fossils.He said the bones were found in the eastern expansion of the forest that was acquired in 2011. A man wearing a mask and hood entered a Wisconsin radio station early Sunday morning and opened fire on three disc jockeys in the broadcast studio, the station said.WORT FM, a radio station based in Madison, said in a statement that witnesses said five gunshots were fired, injuring one DJ in the buttocks and shattering the glass between studios.The injured DJ was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later discharged, WORT said. No major injuries were reported and no arrest had been made in the case.Madison Police responded to the shooting at 3:12 a.m. local time and found one person injured, according to a police incident report. Police said it appeared the shooting was not random and there was no risk to the general public.Police secured the area and kept DJs off the premises during the immediate investigation of the shooting, leaving WORT off the air until normal programming resumed at 9:38 a.m., the station said.A motive for the shooting was still unknown and it's unclear how the assailant entered the building, WORT said.David Devereaux-Weber, WORT Radio Board president, told CNN affiliate WKOW that the shooting felt targeted."Somebody who had a beef about something ... and we're not quite sure whether it's a personal issue or a music issue," he said.The station thanked its supporters in a statement on Sunday."We want to thank everyone for the support.
