A woman whose dog was killed by a questionable service dog is now taking action against its owner.Christine Haddow rescued a black, miniature poodle she named Nick. During one walk on a park path in western Colorado, Haddow and Nick encountered a great Dane."Massive. He was massive," Haddow recalls.She tried walking past the big dog and its owner, when all of a sudden, the great Dane lunged toward the miniature poodle.“The great Dane attacked him from behind and started shaking him like he was a rag doll, and he was screaming,” says Haddow. “I kicked the great Dane in the head, and he dropped Nick."The injuries were too much for the miniature poodle, who had to be put down.Haddow later learned the great Dane’s owner claimed the dog was a service dog. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) -- As firefighters work towards 100% containment in the Valley Fire, business owners are cleaning up the damage left behind by the flames. Alpine Dog Ranch is a vacation ranch for dogs to say while their owners are away. When the Valley Fire started, the ranch's owner, Thomas MacKinnon, was taking care of nine dogs, including his own. He quickly rushed to get them all into a van and tried to get out, but MacKinnon says they were trapped by flames. He and several neighbors took refuge in an open field until the flames passed. Firefighters and a 747 Supertanker saved all of the structures. No one was hurt. The fire did burn a lot of the greenery on the ranch and now MacKinnon is cleaning up; repairing fencing, the sprinkler system and covering burned patches with woodchips. MacKinnon says the fire was an added challenge on top of a difficult year. Like many businesses, the Alpine Dog Ranch has been struggling. ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) — Hurricane Delta sped up one Louisiana couple's wedding by a few days but judging by the smiles on the bride and groom it certainly didn't dampen the affair. Ian and Taylor Gaspard from Abbeville were supposed to get married on Saturday, Oct. 10. But Hurricane Delta had other plans. After watching the hurricane slowly make its way toward Louisiana they swiftly changed gears and held the wedding Thursday with friends and family in attendance. The streets outside were largely deserted as residents finished up last-minute storm preparations or evacuated. The smiling bride said the ceremony was "beautiful."Hurricane Delta made landfall Friday at 6 p.m. CT near Creole, Louisiana, as a category 2 hurricane. 739

After President Donald Trump blasted violence that has transpired at Black Lives Matter protests, claiming that Democrats are encouraging riots, Trump was asked to address a violent encounter involving a supporter of his last week.Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, was charged on Wednesday for the deaths of two demonstrators in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and for wounding a third protester. It has since been determined through social media that Rittenhouse is a supporter of Trump.During his Monday news conference, Trump said about the incident in Kenosha, "That was an interesting situation. He was trying to get away from them, I guess… and he fell & then they very violently attacked him.Trump added, “He probably would've been killed."Trump’s statement was in line with claims made by Rittenhouse’s attorney, who said that the shootings were in self-defense.Rittenhouse "has suddenly found himself at the center of a national firestorm and charged with murder after defending himself from a relentless, vicious and potentially deadly mob attack in Kenosha, Wisconsin,” attorney John Pierce of Pierce Bainbridge said in a statement last week.The exact circumstances that led to last week’s shooting are unclear, but several videos posted on social media have given investigators some insight.One of the videos appeared to show Rittenhouse scuffling with demonstrators before firing several shots. He is then seen walking away from the incident with the gun dangling from his chest while holding his hands up.While officers initially did not confront Rittenhouse at the scene late Tuesday, he was arrested the next day.Trump is scheduled to visit Kenosha on Tuesday, the site of ongoing unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake was shot seven times in the back by Officer Rusten Sheskey.
