SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Despite closing their cafeteria, Serving Seniors has begun offering to-go and delivery meals to seniors in need.At their location at 1525 4th Ave, they are distributing breakfast and lunch to anyone over 60-years-old, with a focus on low-income and homeless seniors.They are also doing home deliveries for those who are under the "self-isolation" request by the state.To request a delivery, call 619-235-6572.The county is also coordinating resources and can answer all non-emergency requests by calling 2-1-1. 537

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Frustrated business owners in the Midway District say an old strip club was a better neighbor than the current property owner, which happens to be a church. The Rock Church bought the strip club, formerly known as The Body Shop, in August of 2018. Now, businesses say nothing has changed except there’s now more trash and drugs. Neighbors say they want the church to clean it up. Noor Shamoon comes to work at Navis Pack and Shop to a very unwelcome sight. “Food, trash feces on wall, on our vehicles.”He says it’s a foul odor and claims people who hang out in the area vandalized the businesses work truck. Employees at the Midas muffler business across the street also say trash and loitering have become huge problems. “We're trying to run a business and it's hard when you have that across the street,” said Gary Stricker. People who work in the area say prostitution is rampant as are drugs. One man reportedly overdosed recently. “I think he maybe shot up some kind of drug or something. We were concerned about him so we called an ambulance,” Stricker said. When The Rock Church dropped the banner over the “nude girls” sign at the former strip club, they promised to clean up the neighborhood. Since the church purchased the property for .3 million, they haven’t touched it. "I hope they do something about that to clean the place up you know,” Stricker said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fans packed the SDCCU Stadium for the Navy Notre Dame game, the focus for San Diegans revolving not on the friendly rivalry but the fight over what will happen to the landmark."This game is a big game and could be the last game here," Darren Hopkins, 13, said sitting next to his dad in the first row.Saturday night was the ninety-second game between Navy and Notre Dame and the crowd was very supportive of both sides."My dad's in the Navy but we're also big Notre Dame fans, so we're kinda split between," Darren said.The stadium hosted it's first football game in 1967, and fans tell 10News they love watching football here."It's good to see good football back in San Diego, I already miss the Chargers games and all the activities but it's really good to see there's some sports fans still here and they can fill the stadium it's really nice," Dan Hopkins said."A lot of energy here a lot of history here really wish the chargers were still in town but they're not, voting on Soccer City in November," San Diego local Kyle Uminger said.Both measures on the ballot call for a new stadium, either for San Diego State, or a soccer expansion team.Fans wish there was another option."I think that there's still so much spirit left in San Diego for a sports team, especially football, the entire stadium is filled up and it's just super loud and everyone is excited," Darren said.The vote will happen November 6th, 2018. 1480

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — During a closed session meeting on Friday, the county Board of Supervisors voted to appeal a recent court's decision to allow strip clubs and restaurants to reopen amid California's regional stay-at-home order.While the board voted to appeal the ruling, Chairman Greg Cox said they have directed the county's legal counsel to only argue against the operation of strip clubs and allowing indoor dining despite California's coronavirus restrictions."The Board voted to appeal the order. But the Board directed County Counsel to only argue that the order is incorrect as it relates to the continued operation of strip clubs and the allowance of indoor dining. We support outdoor dining with appropriate safety protocols that have been previously established. We remind everyone that the virus is still out there.
