(KGTV) -- The woman accused of hitting a pedestrian in Oceanside and continuing to drive after his body went through the windshield of her vehicle was found guilty Friday afternoon.A jury Friday found 31-year-old Esteysi “Stacy” Sanchez guilty of murder in the second degree, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and hit and run with death or permanent serious injury.Deputy District Attorney Robert Bruce told the jury that Sanchez displayed a conscious disregard for human life when she drove drunk and ran over 69-year-old Jack Ray Tenhulzen on a sidewalk on Mission Road near the state Route 76 bridge the morning of June 27, 2016.Tenhulzen’s body went through the windshield and into the passenger seat of her car.  The bottom of the victim's leg was severed in the accident but was recovered at the back of the car near the rear window.Tenhulzen was declared dead at the scene.Defense attorney Herb Weston argued that Sanchez was tired and fell asleep behind the wheel and rode up on the sidewalk, striking Tenhulzen. He said Sanchez "freaked out" when she saw the victim's body in her car and kept driving, finally stopping a block from her home.Sanchez was eventually arrested at her home, and she had shards of glass in her hair when taken into custody. Authorities said her blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit about two hours after the collision.Sanchez faces up to 15 years to life in prison. (KGTV) -- Tuesday, SpaceX launchged several satellites into orbit that will replace a satellite network and monitor climate change. The Iridium-6/GRACE-FO satellites were launched just before 1 p.m. from Vandenberg Air Force Base. For this particular mission, SpaceX launched five Iridium NEXT satellites as part of the company's campaign to replace the world's largest commercial satellite network. A total of eight Iridium NEXT launches are planned with the company that will send into orbit 75 new satellites. Also on board the Falcon 9 rocket will be satellites that will monitor the movement of earth's mass for NASA and the German Research Centre for Geosciences.Watch the launch in the player below:  775

(KGTV) - The man accused of carrying out dozens of rapes and at least 12 murders across California in the 1970s and '80s did not enter a plea at his arraignment Friday.Joseph James DeAngelo, 72, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer cases.He was handcuffed in a wheelchair during his court appearance, and listened to the judge with his eyes barely open.In a frail voice, DeAngelo responded, "I have a lawyer." An attorney from the public defender's office was with him in court.He was denied bail.DeAngelo, a former California police officer, is charged in Sacramento County with two counts of murder in the 1978 killings of Brian Maggiore and his wife, Katie, and with additional murder charges in Ventura County. (KGTV) — Voter registration has reached an all-time high in California ahead of November's midterm elections, according to newly released state data.A record 19,696,371 Californians were registered to vote as of Oct. 22, an increase of 1,892,548 registered voters since 2014, Secretary of State Alex Padilla's office says.That means about 78.16 percent of Californians are eligible to vote, the state's highest level since the state's 1950 gubernatorial election.YOUR VOICE YOUR VOTE ELECTION COVERAGE"It is nearly unprecedented for California to set a voter registration record in a midterm election," Padilla said in a release.
