Following Bill Clinton’s sharp rebuke of President Donald Trump Tuesday evening, Barack Obama gave his sharpest scolding of Trump since inauguration day.In Obama’s speech he delivered Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention, Obama lashed Trump for his approach to the presidency.“I did hope, for the sake of our country, that Donald Trump might show some interest in taking the job seriously; that he might come to feel the weight of the office and discover some reverence for the democracy that had been placed in his care,” Obama said.“But he never did. Florida Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a pair of letters Sunday taking issue with the lack of criminal investigations tied to the state's elections after the Florida Department of State said it found no allegations of criminal activity.The letters -- one issued to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the other to the Department of State -- came two days after the state law enforcement agency announced it had no active investigations related to the election and had been informed by the Department of State there were no allegations of criminal activity.Despite the lack of any criminal allegations referred by the Department of State, Bondi said law enforcement should look into election activities in two key counties and directed Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Rick Swearingen "to take the necessary steps to promote public safety and to ensure that our state will guarantee integrity in our elections process." 968

FREDERICK, Colo. – Law enforcement officials said onl Friday that Chris Watts is in protective custody and being isolated from other inmates at the Weld County jail because of the publicity the case has received and say they still have several days of work to do before Monday’s deadline for charges to be filed.Watts, 33, who has been arrested and accused of killing his wife, Shanann, and their two young daughters earlier this week in Frederick, also has declined to speak with the media for the time being at the advice of his attorney, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said.The sheriff’s office additionally said that Watts is not currently able to receive visitors because he hasn’t been in the jail system for long enough.The Weld County coroner is conducting at least one autopsy related to the deaths of the Watts family Friday. The body believed to be Shanann’s was discovered on Anadarko property, officials said Thursday morning, and those believed to be Celeste and Bella were recovered from oil tanks nearby later Thursday, high-ranking officials said.Frederick police also said on Friday that they believe they have two or three more days of interviews to conduct related to the case. FOUNTAIN, Colorado — Two people are dead after a truck caught fire and exploded south of Fountain, Colorado on Thursday morning.The incident happened at the Ray Nixon Power Plant. Firefighters said a crew was drilling for soil core samples when the truck's boom hit a 13,000-volt overhead power line.Two subcontractors were killed, firefighters said. A third person was uninjured.Colorado Springs police, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and multiple fire departments were all on the scene. 511
