Moutai's statement came after a netizen named "Shui Jing Huang" claimed last week in his personal blog that a sample of the company's liquor had been found to contain toxic levels of plasticizer.
China has long been plagued by food safety problems. In early November, products made by liquor company Jiugui were found to contain toxic plasticizer, arousing public concern and anger about food safety.
In Xuanwu Park, located in a heavily populated part of Beijing, crowds of elderly residents played shadow boxing, jogged or participated in aerobic exercises.
Since December, police nationwide have confiscated more than 230,000 boxes of substandard fireworks and detained 1,545 suspects.
An official with the Beijing Office on Fireworks and Firecrackers said 750,000 cartons of fireworks would go on sale this year, down from 810,000 in 2012. The number of franchised firework shops has also been reduced to 1,337 from last year's 1,429.
