BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale hit a border area between northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Saturday afternoon, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.     The epicenter was at 38.2 degrees north latitude and 106.6 degrees east longitude.     Xinhua reporters in Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia, said tremor was felt in the downtown area.     No casualties have been reported.

BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso exchanged views on climate change and China-EU cooperation on Monday during a telephone conversation.     The upcoming UN climate change conference in Copenhagen should aim to achieve positive results in the full, effective and sustained implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol, Wen said.     "Emphasis should be put on making clear and detailed arrangements for mitigation, adaptation, technology transfer and financing," he added.     "The key to success at the conference is to uphold the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, the principle of 'common but differentiated responsibilities' and the authorization of the Bali Road Map," he said.     President Hu Jintao had made clear China's position and specific measures at the UN climate change summit in September, he said.     The premier specified six aspects China will give priority to in its next steps. BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao Friday highly praised the achievement of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) over the past decade, ahead of the 10th anniversary of the region's return to the motherland.     Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said Macao was "embracing a bright future" thanks to the mainland's support and Macao compatriots' hard work. Hu made the remarks while attending an exhibition in Beijing marking Macao's achievements in the past 10 years.     "Macao has undergone an extraordinary development over the past decade," he said, adding under the support of the central government and the Chinese mainland, the SAR government fully implemented the policies of "one country, two systems", "Macao people governing Macao" with a high degree of autonomy and the Basic Law.
