EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Sunday after an El Cajon officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a vehicle earlier in December.According to police, Keani Flores, 28, was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the assault on the officer, Nick Cirello.The driver of the vehicle, David Pangilinan was seen in the Oakhurst area by officers,When police tried to conduct a traffic stop, Pangilinan fled the scene and “evaded apprehension,” police said. Flores was reportedly located at a motel nearby. Authorities are still searching for Pangilinan.Officer Cirello was hit by the vehicle on December 14 on the 100 block of West Washington Street after officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle blocking the roadway with the driver and passenger asleep inside the vehicle.When officers tried to wake the pair up, the driver provided identification for someone else before starting the vehicle.When Cirello tried to stop him, he was dragged before being struck by another vehicle traveling past the scene.Cirello was taken to the hospital before being released on December 18. (KGTV) - A pair of Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadets from an El Cajon high school are turning heads for their achievements.It has been 19 years since a student from Grossmont High School was appointed to military service academy and the class of 2018 has two who received multiple appointments.John Flaherty and Nicholas Ghosn earned four appointments in total.Flaherty was nominated to West Point and the United States Merchant Marine Academy while Ghosn earned them to the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.“I was on top of the world,” said Flaherty describing the moment he got the call he was being appointed, “it was everything I dreamed of since I was four-years-old.”Flaherty is attending West Point and Ghosn will head to Annapolis at the end of their summer.Nicholas Ghosn says it was bittersweet to get the nod from the U.S. Navy.“All I ever wanted was to go to that college and join the ranks of the officer corps in the Navy, but I knew I was going to be away from my family and friends and home,” said Ghosn, “it’s going to be a long time before I get to see them so I was kind of sad because I knew this was it.”The 17-year-olds grew up a mile and a half from each other in Spring Valley and played sports together.“It’s unprecedented,” said Gunnery Master Sgt. Mark Brosnan on the two earning nearly million dollars in scholarship money from the schools.“I’ve never had cadets from public school get two appointments in the same year,” added Brosnan.They are teenagers, but they know they are on the precipice of something great.“They don’t let you into the Naval Academy or West Point if you eat tide pods,” laughed Ghosn, “Thats on the application.”The two head to their respective schools in late June, but plan to see each other at the Army-Navy game in December.  1855

"It's cool because a guitar has a certain built-in coolness factor, people are already drawn to the instrument as it starts. "We do things in a different way than other companies do. It's an interesting marriage of technology and hands-on attention to detail." I think the reality is, there's certainly a lot of things competing for people's attention," Kirlin said, noting last year that Taylor Guitars made the most guitars in a year than ever in their history. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) — Residents were asked to shelter in place in an East County neighborhood due to a gas leak Thursday.The leak was reported at Mollison Ave. and Pear St. just before 12 p.m., according to Heartland Fire Rescue.Officials said the leak was coming from a home's natural gas line and crews would dig under the street to plug the break.Two homes were evacuated. Other nearby residents in the area were also asked to shelter in place and not to run their vehicles as crews worked to fix the break.Mollison Ave. was closed from Greenfield Dr. to Bradley Ave. El Cajon Police and SDG&E crews were also on scene.  669
