Student loan borrowers are getting another break.A recent executive order signed by President Trump extends the suspension of payments and interest on federally-held student loans from September 30 to December 31, but certain details are still unclear.“The language isn’t super clear, so we student loan nerds are anxiously awaiting the Department of Education’s guidance, which we are expecting in the next couple of weeks for sure,” said Betsy Mayotte with The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA).Borrowers have reported their loan servicers are also awaiting direction from the Department of Education.Aside from a break in payments, Mayotte said there are programs borrowers in default should take advantage of during this COVID period.“Loan rehabilitation is kind of an awesome and unique thing for the federal student loan program. If you make nine consecutive on-time payments in an amount that’s based on your income, so the payments can be as low as , not only are you taken out of default, but they remove the default line from your credit report like it was never there. TAMPA, Fla. — Air conditioning units may be contributing to the spread of COVID-19, especially in the southern part of the United States, according to a Harvard epidemiologist.Dr. Edward Nardell is a professor in the Departments of Environmental Health and Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He's done in-depth research on how air conditioning units contribute to the spread of airborne infections.Nardell said air conditioning can help airborne viruses spread in three ways.First, people go inside to cool down, when you are much safer outdoors, Nardell said. Now, we're seeing more people indoors because of the high heat and humidity, specifically in the southern states like Florida.The second problem is that air conditioning brings in very little outside air, according to Nardell. While this isn't a major problem inside your own home, it can be especially problematic in corporate settings."It just isn't economically possible to bring in outside air, recirculate it and dehumidify it," he said.Lastly, he said when people are indoors, you're often not spaced out safely as you would be outdoors."You are not socially distanced as much, but you're re-breathing the same air that someone else just exhaled," Nardell said. "We call it rebreathed air fraction, and if someone is infectious, often asymptomatic, you're going to be rebreathing their small particles."Nardell also said air conditioning units can generate air currents that can carry large particles even further, similar to what researchers found contributed to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease in an air-conditioned restaurant in Guangzhou, China, involving three family clusters.On the Department of Homeland Security's website, this tool can be used to estimate how long the virus would be expected to remain stable while airborne.Now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending restaurants increasing the distance between tables and improving ventilation.The use of germicidal lamps, a technology that Nardell said is almost 100 years old, has been proven effective in protecting against tuberculosis infection and is already in use in some settings to fight COVID-19.The lamps are set up to shine horizontally, high in the room where sterilization is needed. They’re created by scammers as a way of accumulating as many social media interactions as possible, according to the BBB.Once the scammers have garnered enough likes or comments, the BBB says they’ll edit the post and add something malicious, such as a link to malware.Other times, the BBB says the scammers will strip the original content off the page that has garnered likes and use it to promote “spammy” products or sell it on the black market.While these phony giveaways exist online, so do legitimate ones. The BBB has offered these tips to decipher which are real and which are fake:Look for the blue checkmark. Many social media platforms verify pages from brands and celebrities so that users can tell real pages from copycats. Make sure you look for that trust mark before liking and sharing content.Watch out for new accounts: If you think a giveaway is real, click on the business or celebrity’s profile. If it’s a new account with very little other content, that’s a big red flag.Look out for spelling errors and typos: Real brands use giveaways to promote their company. Spelling errors and typos will make them look bad! They are a big warning signs of a scam.The giveaway asks you to complete too many tasks: If a giveaway asks you to comment on multiple posts, follow several accounts, and tag a couple of brands, it becomes almost impossible to keep track of everyone participating and pick a winner at random (as required by law).There are no terms and conditions. Online giveaways should include contact details of the organizer, how to take part, how the winner will be selected, and eligibility requirements. If you don’t see information, that’s an instant red flag.Don’t click “like” on every post in your feed. Cell phone video shows people pushing and shoving each other on the field. The violent scene unfolding in the middle of a soccer tournament in Temecula. A stampede of hundreds of parents and children running from what they thought was an active shooter. Erik Saur shared video in the moments before he grabbed his 9-year-old daughter. You don’t process gotta get out of there," Saur said. The incident happened Sunday at Galway Downs. A video captured the moment the chaos started. 10-year-old boys started fighting when spectators swarmed the field. One of the boys that was hurt was from the Albion Team in Chula Vista. In the midst of the chaos, a man who had a camouflage duffel bag caused hysteria. “He rushes to the sideline and he pulls out the backpack and someone is telling him ‘don’t do it’ they said must have a weapon.”The man was detained by deputies for a short time. Investigators say there was no weapon, but the fear was real. The father of the child injured says his son will be okay. Coaches and parents plan to meet later this evening to discuss safety measures moving forward.
