Aeroméxico airline confirmed on Tuesday that a flight has crashed near Durango, Mexico, and the airline was evaluating the damage.The incident took place near General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport in Durango, Gov. José Rosas Aispuro Torres wrote on Twitter. Torres added that emergency officials were responding to the scene. Aispuro confirmed that there were no reported fatalities stemming from Tuesday's incident.A spokesperson for the airline told ABC News that some survivors were being taken to area hospitals, while some were able to walk away from the crash. Video from the incident showed rainy conditions, and some smoke billowing near the airport. The airline said that 100 people were on board the Embraer 190 plane that was taking off from Durango en route to Mexico City.  840

After months of protests, sometimes becoming violent, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler announced Thursday that the city is banning the use of tear gas by his city’s police.Wheeler said everyone has an obligation to create change, and now is the time to change the city’s policy on using tear gas.“During the last hundred days Portland, Multnomah County and State Police have all relied on CS gas where there is a threat to life safety,” Wheeler said. “We need something different. We need it now.“Arson, vandalism, and violence are not going to drive change in this community. I expect the police to arrest people who engage in criminal acts. I expect the District Attorney to prosecute those who commit criminal acts. And I expect the rest of the criminal justice system to hold those individuals accountable. We must stand together as a community against violence and for progress.”The issue of using tear gas amid protests has become a legal battle, as demonstrators say that the use of tear gas to disperse a crowd violates their constitutional rights. In June, U.S. District Judge March Hernandez ruled that the use of tear gas on protesters in Portland could only be used when lives are at risk.The police responded on Thursday by saying gas is a tool needed by officers to control crowds when protests become violent.“Banning the lawful use of CS will make it very difficult to address this kind of violence without resorting to much higher levels of physical force, with a correspondingly elevated risk of serious injury to members of the public and officers,” the Portland Police said in a statement. “CS, while effective, is a significantly lower level of force than impact weapons, which would very likely be necessary to disperse riotous groups with its prohibition. Akron, Ohio police are investigating after three women were found dead inside a home on Saturday night.It happened around 7:40 p.m. while officers were conducting a welfare check at a house in Akron. According to department, the officers first tried knocking on the door and when no one answered, they began looking through the windows and saw a woman on the floor. They then forced entry inside and discovered two other women.All three women were pronounced dead at the scene by EMS of suspected drug overdoses.Police aren't releasing their names at this time, but say they were 20, 20 and 21-years-old.  623

All sorts of medical providers are willing to play a role in vaccine distribution once it becomes widely available.“I think what's going to happen is the vaccination process goes down the pathway, and in the next year, you'll see more and more states get on board with that,” said Dr. Robert Zena, President of the American Association of Dental Boards.Zena says we've already seen several state legislatures approve dentists to give the COVID-19 vaccine and about a dozen more are in the process of doing so.Back in October, the federal government recommended states expand their list of vaccine providers.Dentists may be able to reach even more people than traditional doctors. About 9% of Americans see a dentist every year but not a physician, according to the American Dental Association.“There are a lot of dental offices in more rural areas where it's harder for those people to get access to care. So, the distribution of dentists across the country is really widespread,” said Zena.People may also be more willing to accept a vaccine once they talk with a dentist they trust.On the flip side, a COVID-19 vaccine at a dentist's office could help drum up interest and new dental business.During the H1N1 pandemic, dentists in some states gave the vaccine.Some areas have also authorized dentists to give the flu shot. On July 16, the U.S. recorded more than 77,000 confirmed cases of the virus — the most the country has been recorded in a single day since the pandemic began.According to Johns Hopkins, transmission rates slowed throughout July and August as states like Texas and Arizona re-instituted more stringent lockdown procedures. By mid-September, case rates in the U.S. slowed to about 34,000 a day.However, in the last week or so, Johns Hopkins reports that the case rates have begun to spike again — and that several Midwest states are reporting their highest case rates of the pandemic.Among those states is Wisconsin, which saw new cases jump from about 600 a day to more than 2,600 a day through the month of September. On Sept. 22, Gov.
