(KGTV) — Part of a Del Mar cliff crumbled, just feet away from train tracks, following heavy rains that battered the county.Sky10 flew over the affected area Friday, capturing a portion of cliffside hollowed out near train tracks near 13th Street. Several crews were seen assessing the area. However, Amtrak later posted that all train travel between Oceanside and San Diego will be canceled and a bus bridge will be used from 6 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday due to "unscheduled track work."North County Transit District added that, "The heavy rainstorms over the last 48 hours have caused a washout adjacent to the coastal railroad tracks along the Del Mar Bluffs just south of Coast Boulevard which support COASTER, Amtrak, and BNSF operations. At this time, all trains can safely operate at restricted speeds through the area based on site reviews and inspections conducted by railroad engineers."NCTD also planned bus service starting 6 a.m. Saturday. COASTER passengers will run a regular service from Oceanside to the Solana Beach train station, with passengers taking a bus to Santa Fe Depot in San Diego. "Northbound COASTER passengers who board the COASTER south of Solana Beach station will be bused all the way to Oceanside Transit Center," NCTD said. DETROIT — A 20-year-old woman believed to have died was found breathing at a Detroit funeral home.According to an attorney hired by her family, workers at the funeral home were close to embalming Timesha Beauchamp before realizing that she was still breathing."They were about to embalm her which is most frightening had she not had her eyes open. They would have begun draining her blood to be very, very frank about it," said Geoffrey Fieger, an attorney who has been hired by Beauchamp's family.On Sunday morning, paramedics with the Southfield Fire Department in Michigan responded after receiving a call about an unresponsive woman. The department's fire chief said Beauchamp was not breathing when the paramedics arrived.First responders determined after 30 minutes of revival efforts that she was deceased."Because there was no indication of foul play, as per standard operating procedure, the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office was contacted and given the medical data. The patient was again determined to have expired and the body was released directly to the family to make arrangements with a funeral home of their choosing," the chief said in a statement.Fieger says that Beauchamp's godmother — a registered nurse — tried to tell EMS workers that she felt a pulse.Hours later, the staff at the James H. Cole funeral home realized she was still breathing. "It’s one of people's worst nightmares to imagine having an ambulance called and instead, sending you off to a funeral home in a body bag. The funeral home unzipping the body bag, literally, that’s what happened to Timesha, and seeing her alive with her eyes open," Fieger said.Beauchamp is in critical condition at Sinai Grace Hospital and is on a ventilator. Fieger said that the 90-minute delay Beauchamp encountered by going to the funeral home instead of going to the hospital may be critical to her recovery.It is still unclear what led up to the call for the unresponsive woman.“A local emergency department physician pronounced the patient deceased based upon medical information provided by the Southfield Fire Department at the scene. After which, the Southfield Police Department contacted the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office to notify them of the findings and the on-duty forensic pathologist released the body to the family," the Southfield Fire Department said in a statement. "The Southfield Fire and Police Departments followed all appropriate city, county and state protocols and procedures in this case. The City of Southfield is currently conducting a thorough internal investigation in addition to the Oakland County Medical Control Authority (OCMCA) which will be reporting their findings to the State of Michigan Bureau of EMS, Trauma and Preparedness (BETP). The Palm Beach Post reports that Stephen Cooper died March 28 at in Delray Beach, Florida, due to COVID-19. He was 78. The photo, captured by an Associated Press photographer, shows Cooper with a manila envelope tucked under his left arm. He and several other men were in a desperate sprint as a wall of debris from the collapsing tower looms behind them. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Met with fierce opposition, a plan to install fencing along several miles of train tracks in Del Mar has been put on hold.The plan was put forth by the North County Transit District which operates the Breeze, Coaster and Sprinter train routes.NCTD said it had obtained grants to fund the project, with the goal of stopping people from crossing the tracks illegally. NCTD said the fence would also help prevent erosion.But at the Del Mar city council meeting Monday night, city staff announced the plan had been put on hold.“I had some specific conversations with the executive director. City staff also had some conversations,” said Dave Druker, a Del Mar city councilmember who’s also on the NCTD board.The plan had received criticism from Del Mar residents, who in letters to the council complained about the potential damage to the view as well as restricted access to the beach.City staff announced that NCTD’s executive director said the transit agency will be hiring a consultant to perform a safety study. A fence will be still considered but so will other alternatives like extra signs, public education and additional crossing points. That last point was already on the agenda. The city council voted to move forward on a 0,000 feasibility study that would look at four new crossing points and beach access trails.The crossings would still be a short-term solution. SANDAG has approved a plan to move the tracks off the bluff, which in addition to safety concerns also faces worsening erosion.
