"When he came up to me and was like, I want to trade my medal, I want to trade my medal, I was just kind of taken aback that in the moment, so quickly, he was wanting to do that," said Hansen's coach, Dustin Long. During the award ceremony, Hansen gave his gold medal to his opponent in exchange for the silver medal. Hansen held up two fingers representing second place in the podium photo, a symbolic gesture to his injured opponent. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County has seen two flu deaths and more than twice the unusual number of illnesses so far this season, health officials reported Wednesday. County Health and Human Services officials said the number of confirmed flu cases is more than double the past three-year average, putting this year on par with the severe 2017-2018 flu season. Seventy-seven San Diego County residents died of flu complications last season. Almost 10,000 became ill. More than 235 cases of flu were confirmed by Sept. 28, compared to 67 at this time last flu season. “People should get vaccinated now to avoid getting sick and infecting others,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The vaccine is safe and effective and is available throughout the region.” The flu shot is recommended for everyone over six months old. It takes about two weeks for immunity to develop, according to health officials. Anyone who needs the vaccine and does not have health insurance can go to a County public health center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County Supervisors are responding to a Team 10 investigation detailing the death of a child in foster care.Tyler Walter died Sept. 22, 2018. The cause of death listed on his autopsy is blunt head trauma.In a claim filed against the County of San Diego, Lisa Walter stated that her son Tyler, "was healthy when he was in my care he was thriving, he needed his mother and placing him with my 19-year-old niece was negligent."A representative for San Diego County Supervisors Greg Cox and Nathan Fletcher, Co-Chairs of the county's Child & Family Strengthening Advisory Board, says they can't comment on the specific situation in question because it represents ongoing litigation.RELATED: Mother claims San Diego County was negligent in death of her child while in Foster CareThe supervisors did release a statement about the child welfare system overall saying, "Any day a child dies is a horrifically sad day.
