MOSCOW, Aug 20 (Xinhua) -- Trade between China and Russia has returned to the fast track in 2010, as bilateral trade volume reached 30.7 billion U.S. dollars from January to July, Russian and Chinese officials said here Friday.That represented a 49.6-percent increase year-on-year, the officials said at the 13th meeting of the Russia-China inter-governmental trade commission, which was co-chaired by Russia's Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina and her Chinese counterpart Chen Deming.Mutual investments also surged this year, as Chinese direct investment to Russia jumped 58.5 percent during the first half of 2010 and the Russian investment to China up 18.3 percent, they said.Russia is interested in continuing cooperation in such areas as electric power, nuclear energy, logistic infrastructure, Nabiullina said.Chen said Chinese companies are willing to increase investment in Russian enterprises and to take part in their infrastructure construction.He noted that China would take active measures to promote the import of Russian mechanical and electrical products, and also hopes that in return Russia will open its market to more Chinese cars.During the meeting, chambers of commerce and companies from the two countries inked several cooperation agreements.

TAIPEI, June 16 (Xinhua) -- China's eastern Zhejiang Province and Taiwan have agreed to deepen cooperation in agriculture, tourism, finance and other sectors, according to sources with a Zhejiang delegation which concluded its eight-day visit to the island on Wednesday.The sources said that the delegation, led by Zhejiang governor Lu Zushan, purchased 31 million yuan (4.5 million U.S. dollars) worth fruits and tea products from local farmers in Kaohsiung and Nantou.Zhejiang provincial government also pledged to help Taiwan farmers to sell their agricultural products in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Yiwu and other cities in the province and offer them preferential treatment in participating farm produce exhibitions.Zhejiang Province plans to increase its imports from Taiwan to about 10 billion U.S. dollars by the end of this year, from last year's 7.7 billion U.S. dollars.After the first six Zhejiang companies which have been permitted to conduct investment in Taiwan, Zhejiang government will promote more companies to invest in the island.Commercial banks in Zhejiang and Taiwan have also achieved cooperation agreement on financial service, insurance, futures trading and other services for small and medium-sized companies on both sides.Zhejiang is where many Taiwan people come from.The province is also a magnet for Taiwanese investment. BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said Friday that accelerating the transformation of economic growth mode was an important strategic task for China's social and economic development.Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks at the four-day 10th session of the Standing Committee of 11th CPPCC National Committee, which closed Friday morning.He called for more efforts to expand domestic demand and re-adjust income distribution to foster a pattern of economic growth jointly driven by domestic demand, investment and exports.Greater efforts must also be paid to re-adjusting industrial patterns, enhancing China's innovation capacity, boosting urbanization, saving energy, and reducing emissions, he said.During the session, Standing Committee members held discussions over the drawing of China's next five-year plan for social and economic development, and offered advice to senior officials from more than 30 central ministries or commissions.Jia urged all CPPCC members to contribute to the making of the five-year plan with valuable proposals on key issues.He also called on CPPCC members and organizations at all levels to conduct surveys so as to offer solutions to major problems of the ongoing health-care reform at a lecture held by the CPPCC Standing Committee.
