A third installment of the “Sister Act” franchise is officially in the works.Disney confirmed Thursday evening that “Sister Act 3” is in development, with Whoopi Goldberg set to reprise her role as Deloris Van Cartier.The entertainment company said the film will premiere on Disney+, but didn’t provide a target release date.Along with starring in the film, “The View” co-host will produce it as well, alongside Tyler Perry. The two have worked together before, most recently in 2018’s "Nobody’s Fool” with Tiffany Haddish.Goldberg has been trying to get “Sister Act 3” made for some time now. The contest was a rematch from 2018, when Cisneros delivered an upset in what had been a longstanding GOP district anchored in Orange County. Kim’s victory Friday in the 39th Congressional District overcame President Donald Trump’s poor performance in heavily Democratic California, where he got only one-third of the votes. LIVONIA, Mich. — A racially offensive history lesson involving slavery has a Detroit mother outraged and calling out her daughter’s school. The parent Livonia, Michigan says she’s speaking out so no other child has to go through a similar situation. Now, the school is issuing a statement of its own.The lesson came during a seventh-grade social studies lesson at Frost Middle School in Livonia that left student Jade Holt disgusted. “It was weird and uncomfortable,” Jade said. She said her course on the history of slavery included a question that read: “A slave stands before you. This slave has disrespected his master by telling him you are not my master. How will you punish this slave?”“I read the question and typed my answer. It was, 'there will be no punishment because I do not believe in slavery,'” Jade said. “I never want my daughter to feel that way again, the way she felt this morning,” Jade's mother Jaala Holt said.She believes the teacher also isn’t the only one to blame. “Everything has to be approved before it’s given to the children. So, for whomever approved this inappropriate question for seventh graders, I find it asinine for me,” Jaala said.A school spokesperson released the statement below, which read, in part:“Concerns from a parent were brought to our attention this morning, and we have reviewed a social studies assignment given to three classes of our seventh-grade students. We recognize the assignment in question was not constructed appropriately, as we believe in the importance of approaching topics of slavery in any era of world history with the utmost care and consideration.”The principal hasn’t said if anyone has been disciplined. LONDON — The World Health Organization’s Europe office says it has begun discussions with Russia to try to get more information about the coronavirus vaccine that Russia approved last week before the shot had passed the advanced trials normally required to prove it works.Catherine Smallwood, a senior emergency official at WHO Europe, said “this concern that we have around safety and efficacy is not specifically for the Russia vaccine, it’s for all of the vaccines under development.”She acknowledged WHO was taking an “accelerated approach” to try to speed development of coronavirus vaccines but said “it’s essential we don’t cut corners in safety or efficacy.”Smallwood said WHO has begun “direct discussions” with Russia and that WHO officials have been sharing “the various steps and information that’s going to be required for WHO to take assessments.” 869
