“Tiger King” star Carole Baskin announced Thursday that she had launched a new virtual reality game where players track tigers in the wild.In a press release, Baskin has worked since February with developer Xennial Digital on the game. "My goal for decades has been to stop the practice of holding wild cats hostage under the guise of conservation or education," Baskin said in the statement. "Judging from the tens of thousands of calls, letters, emails, and social posts I’ve gotten after Tiger King aired, it’s clear to me that most people don’t understand that breeding tigers are causing their extinction in the wild, not preventing it. (KGTV) -- Proposition 22 was approved by California voters on Tuesday, allowing app-based and delivery drivers to be classified as independent contractors.Under Prop. 22, workers would be guaranteed an hourly wage and sick leave.The proposition also states that drivers who work more than 15 hours per week would qualify for a monthly health insurance stipend, new medical and disability benefits if injured on the job, and new rules pertaining to rest periods, sexual harassment, and criminal background checks.Supporters say Prop. 22 protects app-based drivers’ choice to be independent contractors. The proposition is also endorsed by a majority of drivers, community members, and small business groups.Those opposed to Prop. 22 say a “no” vote stops companies from writing their own exemption to California law. Opponents also say the proposition denies drivers rights and safety protections.Proposition 22 was launched and partially funded by Lyft and Uber. A 13-year-old middle school student from Elkhorn, Nebraska was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of terroristic threats. According to a release, the student made non-specific threats on a national social media gaming website on Wednesday. After he was questioned Wednesday, he made similar non-specific threats again on Thursday on a different social media platform. The student was booked in the Douglas County Youth Center. Because of his age, his name was not released. Elkhorn Public Schools released a statement: "On Wednesday, law enforcement investigated an Elkhorn Valley View Middle School student regarding a nonspecific threat made on a national social media gaming website. Elkhorn Public Schools administration cooperated fully with local law enforcement throughout the investigation.  Elkhorn Public Schools takes all threats seriously, and in this situation, at no time did we feel students were in immediate danger. (KGTV) - Southwest Airlines announced plans to begin offering flights to four Hawaiian airports later this year.The airlines will begin selling tickets sometime in 2018 for flights to Honolulu International Airport, Lihue Airport, Kona International Airport at Keahole, and Kahului Airport.Southwest didn't say when the flights would begin service to the islands, prices for flights, or from which airports flights would depart from on the U.S. mainland.A Hawaii-specific page on Southwest's website has since gone live as well.Southwest is reportedly waiting for federal regulatory approvals as certification is required for flights over long distances of water, multiple outlets reported. Extra pilot training and stringent maintenance and replacement of parts are required for flights making such a trip.The news comes on the heels of the airlines said ticket sales have dipped in the wake of a fatal accident aboard a Southwest flight earlier this month. 991

Mott Children's Hospital conducted the national poll on children's health, and found that flu season could be worse as the nation is already dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.“We may see peaks of flu and COVID-19 at the same time, which could overwhelm the health care system, strain testing capacity and potentially reduce our ability to catch and treat both respiratory illnesses effectively,” Mott poll co-director Sarah Clark said in a release.Families least likely to not get the flu were those who didn't last year, according to the poll. About 96% of parents whose kids did get the flu shot said they intend to have their kids get it again.“Our report finds that even during the pandemic, some parents don’t see the flu vaccine as more urgent or necessary. This heightens concerns about how the onset of flu season may compound challenges in managing COVID-19," Clark said.“A key challenge for public health officials is how to reach parents who do not routinely seek seasonal flu vaccination for their child,” Clark added. “When getting a yearly flu vaccine is not a pattern, parents need to be prompted to think about why it’s essential for their child to get vaccinated.”The most common reason for kids not getting the vaccine, parents said, was concerns about side effects or the belief it isn't effective.“There is a lot of misinformation about the flu vaccine, but it is the best defense for children against serious health consequences of influenza and the risk of spreading it to others,” Clark says.14% of parents said they would not get their kids the flu shot because they are keeping them away from health care sites due to the risk of COVID-19 exposure.
