The driver of the truck was still traveling at freeway speeds, with the unsafe load still in tow.After watching the truck's load nearly collide with an overpass, the officer pulled the driver over off and told him to exit the freeway.The driver was given a lawful order to stay parked until he could off load the bottles and cans and transport them a safer way."If you are driving down eastbound US 50 and your load almost hits an over crossing, you might have an unsafe load!!" (KGTV/CNS) - Evacuation orders remained in effect Tuesday in light of a fast-moving wildfire that erupted in the Cleveland National Forest the day before.The blaze dubbed the Holy Fire, is five percent contained and has burned at least 3,399 acres as of Tuesday evening, according to the U.S. Forest Service. The acreage was downgraded due to more accurate mapping, officials with the Cleveland National Forest said. A total of 10 helicopters and five air tankers are currently on scene assisting firefighters.  539

A bill was introduced Wednesday that would prohibit the use of chemical weapons, including tear case amid policing activities.Democratic leaders, including Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Mark Takano (D-CA) and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-IL) presented the bill, arguing that tear gas and other alleged “non-lethal” weapons have caused negative long-term health effects and could even lead to death.The bill comes amid nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd, a black man who died while in police custody on Memorial Day. During several protests across the country, officers used tear gas on protesters.The bill, Prohibiting Law Enforcement Use of Chemical Weapons Act, would ensure agencies of law enforcement do not possess chemical weapons. Weapons that fall under the act must be disposed of within a year of enactment.Leaders argued banning tear gas “is one of the many steps” that need to be taken to “fundamentally restructure the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they are supposed to protect and serve.”“To stop us from protesting the death of a black man who was suffocated by police, law enforcement is using a weapon that restricts our lungs -- during a respiratory pandemic,” said Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in a statement. “It is a horror on top of a horror on top of a horror - and it must end.”“There has been a disproportionate response by law enforcement to the peaceful protests occurring nationwide, often involving excessive force and the use of tear gas. We even saw its indiscriminate use against peaceful protesters outside of the White House to clear the way for Presidents Trump’s photo op. (KGTV) - USD head men's basketball coach Lamont Smith was arrested Sunday in the Bay Area and is facing three domestic violence charges, according to public records released by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department.Allen Lamont Smith, 42, was arrested at Oakland International Airport prior to the USD basketball team's flight back to San Diego following a 64-61 win over the University of San Francisco in last night's regular season finale.Officers were dispatched to the team hotel near Union Square late last night on reports of a domestic violence disturbance.RELATED: USD basketball coach Lamont Smith placed on administrative leaveThe victim told police she was intimately involved with Smith. She was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.USD released a statement to 10News, stating "We are aware of the report of allegations related to Lamont Smith. A 36-year-old Washington woman is claiming that a DNA test she took on Ancestry.com showed that her biological father was her parents' fertility doctor, the Washington Post reported. According to the Washington Post, Kelli Rowlette's DNA test claimed that she had a parent-child relationship with Gerald E. Mortimer, a fertility doctor in Idaho. Rowlette said she did not know her mother used artificial insemination. The doctor had diagnosed Rowlette's father with low sperm count and her mother with a tipped uterus. Mortimer recommended inseminating Rowlette's mother with sperm from both her husband and an anonymous sperm donor. According to the Washington Post, the couple asked for a donor who was at least 6-foot-tall, in college and had brown hair and blue eyes. Mortimer had told her parents that he used a match for the sperm donation. Mortimer did not meet Rowlette's parents standards for sperm donation. Mortimer was also listed as Rowlette's delivery doctor, and signed her birth certificate. A lawsuit has been filed in federal court against Mortimer for fraud and medical negligence.To read the Washington Post's full report, click here.  1273
