CHARLESTON, South Carolina (WCSC) — This was not the catch of the day some fishermen were hoping to snag off the coast of South Carolina on Sunday.Inside the bag was an estimated 30 to 50 kilos of cocaine with a street value of up to million. And for the past four years, he has been trying to reach his goal of growing a 1,000 pound pumpkin, his wife, Christin, told CNN.This year the farmer from Cleveland, Tennessee, had an extra special seed to plant in May - a seed from last year's record-breaking pumpkin grown in Tennessee that weighed more than 1,700 pounds, according to Christin."He was out there daily watering it, covering it during the heat of the day and making sure the beetles didn't get to it," she said.When it was done growing, the pumpkin was hauled onto a trailer. With the help of a neighbor, who had access to a large scale, it was weighed."It's the biggest we ever grew," she said. "The largest before was 220 pounds."Justin hollowed out the pumpkin to harvest the seeds and then decided to have some fun with the kids, Christin said. On Monday night, he plunged the pumpkin in the pond on the family's property, climbed inside and with an oar in hand he started paddling around. DETROIT — The former principal of Anchor Bay High School in Fair Haven, Michigan, is suing the district, saying he was forced out after giving a wooden penis to a departing employee as a joke. According to an attorney representing former principal Jack Stanton, a female security guard confiscated the wooden penis from a student who made it in workshop. On her last day, Stanton gave her back the wooden penis as a joke gift, and administration for the school district found out. “He’s told by the administration 'look we are going to make all this information public, we’re going to do a full investigation unless you resign in 24 hours,' ” said Stephen Lovell, who is representing Stanton. According to Lovell, Stanton claims he was told by administration the female security guard was offended. Now Stanton is suing for not getting that hearing, saying he was forced to resign under false pretenses that the female security guard was offended. “They did everything they could to keep him from getting that hearing. They didn’t want him to have that hearing because they knew, one: the school board sort of exonerated him for this because it is this private joke, two: they didn’t want the fact that they were lying about this stuff to come to light,” said Lovell. Attorney Timothy Mullins is representing the Anchor Bay School District. Mullins tells WXYZ the school did not push Stanton to from his job. “For a disciplinary action against an employee to be taken by the board he can request a closed session in front of the board, he knows that, that's a fact, and any statement to the contrary is a lie,” said Mullins. "It's from PNC bank. And from what I understand, if you deposit it and spend your money you're responsible to pay it back." The check is not a real PNC check, but rather is a sophisticated forgery.That would have been a tough life lesson for a young woman just out of high school.Bottom line: No beverage company will pay someone who is not a company employee to drive a car with their logos on it. CHICAGO - Former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett has pleaded not guilty to restored charges that accuse him of staging a racist, homophobic attack against himself last year and falsely reporting it to Chicago police. His lawyer, Tina Glandian, entered the not guilty pleas on his behalf to six counts of felony disorderly conduct. She also told Judge James B. Linn that she's asked the Illinois Supreme Court to halt the case. Glandian told reporters that the revived prosecution is “an ordeal” for Smollett.
