SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was found shot inside their vehicle in the Encanto area on Wednesday, according to police.The shooting occurred in the 6200 block of Varney Drive, near Leaf Terrace and Vado Way, just after 7:30 p.m., according to San Diego Police. Officers arrived to find a man in a vehicle who had been shot at least once.The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man has been identified, though police only described him as a 44-year-old Black male.SDPD says it appeared the victim was in the area with an acquaintance when another vehicle pulled up near the victim and fired several rounds. The suspect then fled the area.Police described the suspect as an unknown race male, wearing all dark clothing. Just ask Lemon Grove resident Tiffany Klein, who had to explain to her 3-year-old son Nicholas, why the sky looked so smokey and gloomy over the last week."Ash was falling and the sky was dark, which was odd. So Nicholas asked me what was going on, he didn't quite understand."And when Tiffany told her son about the dangerous fires burning near Alpine, his response was a bit surprising for a young child."He asked if people were getting hurt," said Tiffany. "I told him, as of that time, that no one had gotten hurt, but some people had lost their homes. So he asked me if he could raise money by doing a lemonade stand."Despite being 3-years-old, Nicholas wanted to lend a hand, even if he wasn't quite sure what was going on."I wanted to help the people that lost their homes,"said Nicholas.And how could any parent say no to such a great request."I was mind blown. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Most San Diego voters support a sales tax for public transit improvements, according to a study commissioned by the Metropolitan Transit System and the San Diego Association of Governments. Poll results released Wednesday show more than two-thirds of voters are in favor of a dedicated half-cent sales tax measure to raise revenue for new projects, FM3 Research reported. The City of San Diego’s current sales tax is 7.75 percent. 44 percent of those surveyed said they were “definitely yes” in favor of the sales tax measure. 23 percent voted “probably yes”. 19 percent said they were “definitely no” on a tax hike increase, according to the study.The poll results are the first step in a discussion between transit officials and the public that are expected to take place through the end of 2019. MTS will review public input and propose a spending and financing plan. “We have significant public interest in bringing fast, safe, reliable public transit to San Diego and the region,” said San Diego County Supervisor and MTS Board Member Nathan Fletcher. “It is time to reimagine how our region moves by working together to create a transit strategy that connects our communities, reduces congestion, provides more transportation options and builds the foundation for a cleaner, greener, more sustainable future. We have a lot of work to do, but we are encouraged by the results.” Transit upgrades and additions could include new trolley and bus routes, and safety enhancements, MTS officials said. “We are taking the next steps to creating a shared vision of the San Diego we want to see and this includes real choices in how residents move throughout their day,” said MTS Board Chair and San Diego City Council President Georgette Gómez. “We must be intentional and inclusive. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police believe a couple found dead in a Torrey Highlands home Saturday night was killed by their son. According to police, the couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day, but they never showed up.When police arrived at the home on the 7400 block of Via Rivera in Torrey Highlands just before 10 p.m. Saturday, they saw the body of a person through a window of the home.
