(AP) — The California Highway Patrol says an officer conducting a routine traffic stop found ,000 of stolen Disney merchandise.The CHP says a Nissan Sentra was pulled over Friday in Kern County after the driver failed to stop when approaching a school bus.The officer learned the driver's license was suspended and then discovered hundreds of pins and other merchandise allegedly stolen from Disneyland.Officials didn't immediately identify the motorist.Authorities say the CHP has contacted Disneyland security and made arrangements to return the property. 588

Authorities and the Sacramento Kings are preparing for protests that are expected Thursday after the funeral for Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man who was killed by police in his grandmother's backyard.Over the past week, the Kings have found themselves at the center of the conflict between police and outraged members of the community.Protesters have blocked the entrance to the arena on two occasions in protest over the March 18 shooting. Last Thursday, the protest forced the Kings and Atlanta Hawks to play in a nearby empty arena.On Tuesday, the doors of the arena closed as protesters arrived, again preventing fans from getting in.Sacramento police said Wednesday they are talking with team officials to plan for the Thursday game against the Indiana Pacers. As the debate about mask mandates continues in some states, a new study reportedly shows social distancing is just as important to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The study looked at the effectiveness of face coverings when someone coughs repeatedly, coughing is one of the symptoms of COVID-19.The study was published in a June issue of “Physics of Fluid”, by AIP Publishing, and was conducted by Talib Dbouk and Dimitris Drikakis from the University of Nicosia in Cyprus.The researchers used computer modeling to show the range of saliva droplets when people cough. Previous work from this group showed saliva can travel about 18 feet when a person coughs and is not wearing a mask or covering their mouth.This new study built on that research to add in the variables of face coverings and repeated coughing.
