MILWAUKEE — Jacob Blake is out of the hospital and in a rehabilitation center, his attorney says.Blake was in Froedtert Hospital since Aug. 23, when Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey fired seven rounds into Blake's back.Blake's attorney declined to say when exactly Blake left the hospital, or how long he is expected to remain at the rehabilitation center. Blake's family said he had been paralyzed from the waist down. It appears his condition has improved somewhat, as he is now recovering in an unidentified rehabilitation center.Blake was initially handcuffed to his hospital bed after the shooting. Police said at the time that the handcuffs were necessary because Blake still had an outstanding warrant on him. After he posted bond and with the help of local lawmakers, the handcuffs were removed, and the police officers guarding his door left.Officer Sheskey has not been charged in the shooting. Sheskey's attorney says the officer believed at the time that Blake may have been trying to drive off with a woman's child. On August 23, Officers were initially called to a domestic incident. There, they attempted to arrest Blake on an outstanding warrant for third degree sexual assault charges. Blake tried to get into his car, when the officer fired his service gun into Blake's back. The shooting quickly became national news as protests erupted in Kenosha and across the U.S.After a few nights of demonstrations in Kenosha, a 17-year-old man opened fire on the crowd, hitting three people. Two people died and the third was taken to the hospital. The teen, Kyle Rittenhouse, was arrested at his home in Illinois and he is now facing extradition to Wisconsin and charges in the shooting deaths. Mortgage rates have been low for months, but currently, about 19 million homeowners who are eligible to refinance haven't cashed in.According to data analytics firm Black Knight, these homeowners have a credit score of 720 or more and at least 20% equity in their homes. They could save nearly 0 a month on average.A new survey by YouGov for Forbes Advisor found that 34% of homeowners say they’re not sure refinancing is worth it.A mortgage analyst at Forbes Advisor says one reason people may be hesitant is they don't want to deal with banks that are overloaded with applications right now.“Borrowers really need to advocate for themselves, so make sure that you call your lender if you haven't heard from them in over a week let’s say or just really stay on top of it and at the end of the day. If you're not getting the service that you want, there are many other lenders that would be happy to get your business,” said Natalie Campisi, Mortgage Analyst at Forbes Advisor.Another reason you should act now if you've been considering refinancing, is there's a new fee. It starts on December 1, but your loan may not be processed before then if you don't start the process now.“What you want to do is talk to your lender,” said Campisi. “If you decide to apply for a loan, ask them, say you know will you roll this fee into the cost of my loan, which some lenders are doing, and find out some lenders might be able to process your application before December 1.”Campisi says you can benefit the most from refinancing if you're not planning to move within the next few years. Also, if you have more than 10 years left on your mortgage. You also need to consider closing costs that can average around ,000. Most experts recommend you need to be saving at least 0 a month to make those costs worth it. 1816

Music can move the soul.Learning to carry a tune or play a chord can be a much-needed break from reality“Certainly, it helps people to heal in more than one way,” said Ty Hughes, music director at School of Rock Denver. He’s been teaching students online since the pandemic hit.“A lot of people are inspired to teach themselves a new skill or rather to work on a new skill, and take up a lot of the time they’re finding they have on their hands during these troubled times here,” he said.Recently, Hughes’ student base has grown from children to an older audience.“I’ve had at least about 75% more adults show up on my schedule these days,” he said.People like health care worker Janae Martinez, who started playing her guitar again while staying safe a home“It was very therapeutic for me in general,” she said of playing music. “So, I knew that I needed it again during the pandemic.”The mother of two says practicing playing helps her focus on things other than the virus.“It heals. It quiets my mind,” Martinez said. “It eases my soul if you will.”With more adults taking music lessons and picking up other hobbies during the pandemic, mental health experts say these activities can help the mind and body.“The feeling that I think some people had at the beginning of the pandemic is like, ‘everything is going to hell. How can I make the best of this,’” said Sean Ransom, Ph.D., clinical director at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of New Orleans. He says if things someone enjoys are taken away, like many were during the COVID-19 crisis, it helps to find something else that brings meaning into their life.“Hobbies have their own benefit that bring us a sense of accomplishment,” Ransom said. “They bring us a sense of growth.”While an online experience might not be enough for some people who prefer more social interaction, there’s still benefits from this type of training.“It’s been an adjustment but that’s what music has always been about is adapting to the times,” Hughes saidHe added that it’s never too late to learn something new.”Music is the healing answer,” Hughes said. ”Music is the magic. That’s what we’re going to keep going at.” 2169
