SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff’s Department has released documents requested by ICE.Under the California Values Act or Sanctuary laws, the Sheriff’s Department is not allowed to help ICE find or arrest undocumented immigrants.But, Sheriff Bill Gore says the subpoenas that ICE issued last week, requires them to release the records. Congress granted ICE the use of these special subpoenas giving the agency more power to get the information from local authorities.RELATED: ICE subpoenas San Diego Sheriff's Department for migrant arrest dataThe records requested are for four men all from Mexico: A 40-year-old arrested in San Diego last December for sex abuse of a child under 14. A 28-year-old arrested in January for assaulting his spouse and child. A 42-year-old arrested last November for first degree robbery. And a 31-year-old man arrested last December for spousal abuse and false imprisonment. The first two remain in custody. While the last two were released into the community.A spokesperson from ICE sent a statement saying in part, “The California sanctuary laws forces the Sheriff’s Department to release many criminal aliens to the street rather than transfer to ICE custody which they say threatens public safety and national security since many will re-offend leading to more victims.”Sheriff Gore says they want to make sure they follow the rules but make sure they protect all of those that live in the county.“We’re not the immigration police, we’re here to protect the undocumented people in the county just like everyone else. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — She's just 5-years-old, but Faith Perkins is now a published author.Faith and her mother Neka wrote the book 'Faith and Trinity the Unicorn', inspired by the loss of Trinity, Faith's older sister."My husband and I lost Trinity prematurely at 24 weeks in May 2012, of course, that was a devastation, it hurt us, but our faith prompted us to try again, and that's when Faith was born," said Neka. In the book, Faith travels the world with her sister Trinity, who is a unicorn. Faith explains how she and her mother wrote the book together, "What we would do is me and her would sit down, and she would tell me what it would be like if we were playing with each other and whatever I would tell her she would write down on a piece of paper."Neka and Faith hope the book will help others coping with loss. "I hope to inspire so many other individuals to talk about it, it's not easy, it's painful," said Neka.But Neka says writing the book with Faith has helped her heal and find some closure. "I can only imagine what life would have been like with her here, so this allows us to keep the hope alive," said Neka.For Faith, getting the book published is only the beginning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Southern California home sales are seeing a significant drop, according to a new report by CoreLogic. In San Diego County, home sales are down more than eight percent year-over-year. Despite a dip in sales, home prices rose 2.6 percent from February of 2018 to February of 2019.The median home price in February was 9,000, CoreLogic reports. The report points out that total SoCal home sales in February were the lowest since February of 2008, when only 10,777 homes were sold. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Some places of worship around San Diego County appear to be planning to continue holding services on their property despite the state’s order regarding indoor operations.On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced pandemic-related restrictions for certain businesses and activities, and places of worship were included on California’s list.Via a Wednesday evening livestream, Kearny Mesa-based Awaken Church broadcasted their service in which there were people in attendance. On their website, Awaken Church promoted in-person women’s prayer meetings held at each of their campuses.ABC 10News asked church leaders to clarify the meeting, and an Awaken pastor said they were holding a prayer protest.At the church’s Balboa Avenue campus, a disclaimer is posted on doors that reads, in part: “By entering this building where COVID-19 virus may possibly exist, despite efforts and attempts at utilizing and employing CDC Public Health Guidelines, you take full responsibility for the decision to attend our services and activities.”A viewer brought a Facebook post by Lighthouse Baptist Church to ABC 10News’ attention.
