SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego State says 120 more confirmed and probably coronavirus cases have been reported in the school's off- and on-campus student population.The new cases bring SDSU's total student COVID-19 count to 184 cases since the fall semester began last week.The school says county health officials it investigating "multiple clusters" of coronavirus cases among students in the university community, including a previously announced outbreak on Wednesday.RELATED: San Diego State moves all classes online for 4 weeks as student cases riseOfficials say among the cases, 14 groups have been identified within different locations. Some of these groups may eventually be linked to outbreaks.SDSU says none of the cases under investigation are related to on-campus educational activities, including classes or labs. No known cases have been reported in school faculty, staff, visitors, or vendors.The school advised that all undergraduates students who have attended gatherings or think they may have been exposed should get tested and isolate themselves. The county estimated that each SDSU student case averages 4.5 contacts each.“SDSU undergrads need to stay home within their living units this weekend and help us stop the spread within your campus community,” said Wilma Wooten, County public health officer. “If you have been to parties and social events, you need to get tested, now. And isolate until you get results.”Students can call 2-1-1 or their medical providers and stay home if they become ill. They may also contact Student Health Services at 619-594-4325 (Monday through Friday) or the Nurse Call Line at 858-225-3105 (after hours and during weekends and holidays). Greeters, or wellness ambassadors, are also on campus to remind students of COVID-19 policies.Violation of the policies can result in suspension or in extreme cases, expulsion.As of Friday, SDSU has issued 457 COVID-19 policy violations. Of those, 285 have already been settled and eight organizations have been issued notices of investigation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Some Pacific Beach families say they no longer feel comfortable at their public library because of the homeless population."It's no longer a library it's a homeless shelter, and that's the word that's spreading."Racheal Allen spends hours each day crusading for public safety in PB. The Neighborhood Watch Block Captain is tired of seeing the same problems on repeat at the library. "Cleanliness an issue, hygiene, I would not let my kid run around barefoot here," Allen said.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodMost recently she saw the swing sets being used as a clothesline. "I've seen a lot, but when I saw that it was a slap in the face," Allen added.And another slap in the face she says, a new library policy enacted last year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego traffic is costing local commuters thousands per year, according to a new report. The Urban Mobility Report compiled by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute takes a look at major cities around the U.S. and just how much time people waste every year stuck in traffic.According to the report, San Diegans spend an average of 64 hours a year stuck in traffic. All that waiting really adds up. The report says those same commuters spend ,440 in congestion cost a year. To come up with those numbers, the report looked at the value of the time wasted, estimated at .29 per hour for the average commuter and .94 per hour of truck time. The report was also compiled using average fuel cost – which is nearly a dollar more per gallon in the state of California. Los Angeles topped the list for most time wasted in traffic at 119 hours per year followed by San Francisco at 103 hours and Washington D.C. at 102 hours. 957

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Sara Jacobs, winner of the race to replace the retiring Susan Davis in California's 53rd district, is getting ready to begin the transition to Congress."Kind of feels like college. I’ll be going to freshman orientation, picking my office room, staffing my office. Talking with congresswoman Davis, to others about a transition. And then getting ready so that as soon as I get sworn in, I can hit the ground running," Jacobs told ABC 10News.Jacobs says the new Congress' first priority will be helping the nation bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. She says she'll insist any new round of stimulus spending will include funding to help small businesses and families, including child care.In her victory speech, Jacobs pointed out that at 31, she'll be one of the youngest members of Congress, and just the third woman to represent the San Diego region. Aeiramique Glass Blake, an activist and friend of Jacobs, says her election is inspiring to young San Diegans. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Seven patients from Rady Children’s Hospital took a break from their treatment and got in the water with Bottlenose dolphins.SeaWorld trainer Jorge Villa hosted the children for the experience. Villa holds a special place in his heart for Rady Children’s because he was treated there when he was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 12.For many of the children, it’s therapeutic and offers them a chance to forget about whatever health challenges they face and focus on being a kid.“It just brings you into the playful childishness that you have in your heart and in your mind,” said Juliana Abraham, 14. She’s been fighting a rare form of brain cancer.  Her mom says faith, prayer, and a positive attitude have helped Juliana persevere.Rady has been offering the dolphin interaction program to patients since 2008. It was first inspired by SeaWorld dolphin trainer and cancer survivor Joy Clausen-Soto.For more information on the program, contact Rady Children’s Hospital at 858-576-1700. 1038
