BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday called for tightened prevention measures against A/H1N1 influenza as the country recorded an increasing number of people catching seasonal influenza upon the arrival of winter.     In a visit to a children's hospital in the Chinese capital, Wen said the country faces severe challenges in the prevention and control of A/H1N1 and some areas are likely to have a sharp increase in the number of patients infected by the epidemic.     He said the country is fully confident and capable of doing well the prevention and control work of the A/H1N1 flu and would spare no effort in helping patients, especially those with severe symptoms, to recover. Premier Wen visited A/H1N1 patients and medical staff at the Beijing Children's Hospital in Beijing on Saturday    Doctors would reassure patients that A/H1N1 flu can be prevented, controlled, and cured, he said.     Wen required intensified efforts to spread the knowledge concerning prevention and control of A/H1N1 flu and asked medical authorities to beef up prevention measures in schools and urban communities.     He also urged to mobilize residents to inoculate A/H1N1 flu vaccines on a volunteer basis and called on vaccine producers to speed up their production.     Medical staff should be careful and avoid infection when treating patients, he said.

ROME, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador Sun Yuxi announced Chinese culture year in Italy at a press conference at the Chinese embassy here Friday.     The culture year, which follows Italian year in China in 2006, will officially start in September.     "The Chinese culture year in Italy is set to be a central obelisk supporting further exchange between the two countries. It is a crucial project on which both governments have long been working," said Sun.     The ambassador said nine Chinese central government departments and 22 local authorities would be involved in organizing more than100 events all over Italy, including performances of traditional Chinese musical bands, dances and operas. BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Li Changchun Thursday called for reform and innovation in promoting the development and prosperity of the country's animation industry.     Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark during his visit to the first China Animation and Cartoon Arts Exhibition held in Beijing.     Li said the animation and cartoon arts has played a very important role in enriching people's cultural lives and cultivating new economic growth area.     The country's animation industry is standing at a crucial point, Li said, urging practitioners in the industry to work hard and continue reform and innovation to push for the development and prosperity of the industry.
