Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering up several tips to help travelers avoid a nightmare at the security checkpoint during the week of Halloween at the airport.TSA said when it comes to masks, they ask that you refrain from wearing a Halloween mask until after you made it through the checkpoint screening. They ask that you wear a face-covering that's used to help stop the spread of COVID-19. TSA officers will ask you to remove your mask, temporarily, just so they can verify your identity at the travel document checking podium. When it comes to wearing a costume, TSA recommends you wear it after you go through the checkpoint because it could trigger an alarm, which would lead to you getting patted down.TSA also recommends that you put "realistic replica props" like pitchforks, chainsaws, brooms, or axes in your checked bag. They added that if you do put weapon-like props, like a bomb or grenade, into either your checked bag or carry-on, you run the risk of slowing down checkpoint until it's proven they are in fact fake or your checked bag not making it onto your flight. For the final tip, TSA said you are fine packing as much candy or treats you want in your checked bag or carry-on.To see what you can or cannot put in your checked bag or carry-on, you can get more answers on the TSA app to access their "Can I Bring?" feature to find out if it's something you should pack or not. 1425

This pandemic holiday season, the last thing you need is too have your power disconnected. But Lisa Shook , who manages a home inspection company, recently got a call from someone claiming to be with their electric company."He said he was going to be in our driveway to cut off our services," she said.Shook handed the phone to owner Rob Wells, who was told he was behind on his bill, and would be cut off if he didn't pay immediately."He said we needed to pay 7 or they would disconnect the electric," Wells said, saying the man demanded a debit or credit card number. It sounded legit, as the caller knew the name of his business, and more.So this expert who normally inspects houses inspected his records, and realized he was not behind on his bill after all.But it may have been too late: Someone emptied his debit card a short time later."Everything got hacked, my credit card, everything," he said.It was all a scam. He is now working with his bank to repair the fraud charges.Easy to believe the caller's claimsLast year, one church almost lost ,000.Donald Kincaid is an Episcopal church groundskeeeper. He was shocked when he received a call from the power company claiming the church had fallen behind on its electric bill."The caller said that the gas and electric would be cut off in about a half an hour because the bill hadn't been paid," he said. The caller couldn't have been more clear. Unless the church paid the money immediately, workers would shut its power off.The caller said that to avert a shutoff, Kincaid needed to buy nearly ,000 in Green Dot Visa cards" and send it to them, giving them the number on the card."The church almost fell for the power disconnect scam, which targets homeowners, small businesses and now churches.Energy companies around the country remind customers that they will never call you threatening immediate disconnection.Duke Energy spokesman Lee Freedman says if you are behind on your bill, they will send you several notices first, and will never demand you pay immediately by debit or gift card.So hang up, and call your provider at the number on your bill, not the number the call came from.As always, don't waste your money.__________________Don't Waste Your Money" is a registered trademark of Scripps Media, Inc. There are a lot of mixed feelings about COVID-19 vaccines and why people would or would not take one. However, health experts say we'll need them to achieve herd immunity and get back to a more normal life.“There's really a deep empathy for the hesitancy people are feeling. This is a big deal. It's normal to have questions about what's going on and we just want people to get the information they can to make empowered choices for them and their families, so we can really get back to what matters most for each and every one of us,” said Michelle Hillman, Campaign Development Officer at The Advertising Council. The Ad Counsel is the agency behind decades of important messages like "friends don't let friends drive drunk."Now, they are working on likely one of the most important campaigns of this generation, convincing people to take a COVID-19 vaccine.Right now, it's in the early stages of research and won't roll out on TV, radio and online until early next year when a vaccine is more widely available. But you can expect a lot of different spokespeople from doctors and pharmacists, to athletes and musicians.“The messenger in this case is going to be even more important in some ways than the actual message itself,” said Hillman. There will also be variations of the COVID-19 vaccine campaign to address specific groups, like communities of color. They've been more severely impacted by the virus and tend to have more vaccine hesitancy. So, partnerships in the messaging will be important.“We know that you know these on the community level people are already turning to churches and nonprofits and trusted messengers on issues like health care, hope, inspiration and all of them are really going to have to be messengers on this important campaign to break through to get people the information they need,” said Hillman.According to recent Pew research, only about 60% of adults say they would get a vaccine. Health experts have said we would need likely between 70 and 80 % to get close to herd immunity. 2027

Three times this month, unusual and scary things happened at homes owned by music star Taylor Swift — all ending in arrests. On April 5, a man was arrested for throwing money over the fence of Swift's Rhode Island home. Police say Bruce Rowley, 26, first robbed Webster Bank in Connecticut the day before, and then drove to her home to give her the money.Police said Rowley was attempting to impress the singer. Rhode Island police had to chase him as he drove on Interstate 95 and refused to stop.State troopers eventually stopped him and he was taken into custody.Rowley is charged with robbery and larceny. He told police he had planned on donating the money he stole from the bank to the Ansonia Police Department, according to WFSB television station. 778
