A Five Guys in Daphne, Alabama has fired or suspended several of their employees after they refused to serve local police officers, the restaurant posted on their Facebook page.According to the Daphne Police Department, on July 7 three Daphne officers entered the restaurant and after realizing they forgot to put their masks on due to the restaurant's mask policy, so they returned to their patrol cars and came back inside wearing their masks.According to WJW, when the officers came back into the restaurant, the employees refused to serve them, so they left and went somewhere else to eat. After hearing of the incident, the restaurant closed so the store and its employees could work with the police department "for further education and customer service training." 777

A Chandler mother is accused of punching and biting her preschool-aged daughter. Chandler police report that on July 31 they arrested 31-year-old Enricka Rena Johnson. Police say Johnson abused her 5-year-old daughter at their home near Arizona Avenue and Pecos Road. Investigators allege that Johnson became angry because the child would not brush her hair. She reportedly punched the girl in the eye and bit her on the arm. A medical exam noted several other injuries including a brain bleed and a broken lower leg with scarring. Johnson allegedly told police that she bit the child on the arm, hand, and shoulder. She also said, "I hit her hard, I hit her a lot."She reportedly told police that the girl broke her leg about two to four months ago, but instead of getting medical attention she taped the leg for support. The leg swelled causing the scarring. Police say they also found meth in Johnson's possession. She has been charged with child abuse.I 1005

A group of NFL owners are accusing Jerry Jones of "damaging the league."Jones, who owns the Dallas Cowboys, is locked in a bitter feud with the owners of other teams over NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension.A lawyer for the NFL's compensation committee, which is responsible for negotiating Goodell's extension, sent a letter to Jones' attorney on Wednesday urging the Cowboys owner to support the committee and not "attempt to sabotage" its efforts. The letter, of which CNNMoney obtained a copy, said Jones' "antics, whatever their motivation, are damaging the league and reflect conduct detrimental to the league's best interests."The compensation committee is composed of six owners. All the other NFL owners also received a copy of the letter, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.Jones' lawyer didn't immediately respond to a request for comment late Wednesday. The Cowboys declined to comment. The language used in the letter follows reports that other owners are considering whether to strip Jones of his beloved Cowboys. On Tuesday, Jones dismissed the possibility as well as reports he had received a cease-and-desist warning from the committee earlier in the week."If somebody is asserting that, they are not knowledgeable about how things work in the NFL," he told a Dallas radio station. The letter is the latest development in a saga that has pitted Jones against many within the NFL, exposing deep divisions.Jones has questioned Goodell's leadership and his handling of players who protest racial injustice by kneeling during the National Anthem. He's also upset over Goodell's treatment of his star running back, Ezekiel Elliott, who was suspended six games earlier this season for domestic violence allegations.Despite his recent clashes with the league, Jones has had a lot to do with how things work in the NFL.Besides winning three Super Bowls and a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he helped Las Vegas and Los Angeles land NFL teams. And he was instrumental in securing the league's lucrative TV rights deal. But his threat to sue fellow members and the league may be a step too far.The letter sent on Wednesday said Jones is trying to "deliberately interfere" with the committee's work.Jones said he's fighting for transparency in the negotiations and wants all the owners to approve any deal with Goodell. He has said that "well over half" of owners agree with him. But all 32 owners agreed in May to give the compensation committee the power to decide whether to extend Goodell's contract, according to a league spokesman. The committee said in the letter that it has continued to keep owners informed. At one point, Jones was a non-voting honorary member of the committee, but was dismissed after he made his threat to sue.The letter referenced his dismissal and accused him of circulating old and misleading documents in his quest for transparency."Someone who is genuinely concerned 'that the owners know the truth about the negotiations' would not deliberately distribute such an outdated document ... or threaten to sue the league and its owners if he does not get his way," it said. 3170

A Lake Worth family’s home was defaced and targeted on the night of the Florida primary because of their politics, and now they worry what might happen next.Jeanne and Michael Carroll came home Tuesday night to find profanity and an anti-Trump message spray-painted on their home.“We should have freedom of speech, freedom to do whatever we want on our own property,” said Jeanne Carroll, who believes her home was targeted because of the Trump flag flying outside. In the 400 block of S K Street in Lake Worth, pride of country is on full display with American flags flapping in the wind. But the Carroll’s home is the only one with a Trump flag. It's been outside for about eight months without any problems, until Tuesday night."I feel extremely violated," Carroll said. The Carrolls went out to dinner Tuesday, and when they came home they found the words "F*** Trump" spray-painted underneath their front window near the flag."I just don't understand why anyone would take the chance of endangering themselves and coming onto someone else's property just because of a political flag," she said.Less than 24 hours later, Michael Carroll's car was also spray painted. It was tagged with the same anti-Trump message and the letter X."People are so just on opposite sides and it's so divided," neighbor PJ Mahoney said.Mahoney has a sign on her fence supporting a Republican for Governor, and she is thankful no one saw a Trump sign hanging on her house. She feels no one should destroy someone's property, no matter what political party you support."I think people are very selfish and self-centered that if they don't agree with it they think they have the right to do something about it," Mahoney said. That is what now scares Carroll. She fears with the state of politics in the country, things could escalate."What really frightens me is, if they're that bold enough to do something like this, what else is coming in the future?" she said. The couple filed a report with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, but there are no leads. There are security cameras around the house, but they did not catch the culprits.Jeannie said she is standing firm and will not be bullied. She plans to continue to fly the Trump flag but also plans to install more security cameras to better protect her property. 2313
