Two children died on the same day in two different states after being left in hot cars.A 21-month-old boy was found on Friday in a vehicle in Booneville, Mississippi, according to a statement from Booneville Police Chief Michael Ramey.Ramey said although the vehicle was in a parking lot between a daycare and an adult daycare facility, neither were involved in the death.It appears the child was left in the vehicle at a workplace all day before the car arrived at the parking lot and the child was discovered, Ramey said.Another child died the same day after being found unresponsive in a vehicle in Lindenwold, New Jersey.The 22-month-old girl died after she was discovered in a minivan outside a commuter rail station in the Philadelphia suburb around 3:38 p.m., officials said.It's unknown how long the child was in the vehicle before she was found and no charges have been filed, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.Onlookers in Lindenwold watched as police wrapped crime tape around surrounding vehicles and draped a tarp over the open sliding door of the van, CNN affiliate WPVI-TV reported."My heart just broke," said Ashely Iwu, whose car was enclosed within the police perimeter. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Peace Corps is telling its volunteers around the world that it is suspending all operations globally and evacuating all volunteers in light of the spread of the new coronavirus. In an open letter to volunteers posted Sunday on its website, the federal agency's director, Jody Olsen, says the decision follows recent evacuations in China and Mongolia due to the outbreak. Olsen says that with evacuations now underway at other posts and travel becoming more challenging by the day, the agency decided to expand the suspension and evacuations. When a 12-year-old Michigan girl was asked by a man to get in his car, she responded by asking him what the password was, to which he couldn't provide and answer. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office says the stranger danger incident happened Wednesday around 7 a.m.The girl was walking to her school bus stop when she was approached by a newer model, black Chevy, four-door sedan. The windows of the vehicle were heavily tinted. Authorities say a male suspect in the vehicle asked the girl to "get in the car." She responded by asking what the password is. The suspect said he didn't know, so the 12-year-old ran away from the vehicle. The girl and her mother have set a password if the mother were to ever have someone pick the girl up at any location. After the girl ran away, the suspect eventually drove from the area. The girl then continued to the bus and told a school resource officer about the incident when she arrived at school.The girl was uninjured, and another student witnessed the incident and corroborated what the girl told police.
