SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Sheriff's Department released several videos of a deadly shooting that occurred after a pursuit ended in Chula Vista.The shooting took place after a pursuit that started in Orange County around midnight on Oct. 4. The suspect of the chase, identified as Christopher Ulmer, 33, of Whitter, Calif., led officers to Chula Vista, where authorities stopped his vehicle using a pit maneuver on I-805 south near Orange Avenue at about 1 a.m.Police say Ulmer exited his vehicle and pointed his arm at officers who believed he was holding a firearm, prompting officers to fire their service weapons. Officers say Ulmer got back up and pointed at officers again, prompting a second round of gunfire.RELATED: Pursuit suspect shot by law enforcement on I-805 in Chula Vista identifiedUlmer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead.Video released by the Sheriff's Department showed a photo of a black, cylindrical object found underneath Ulmer's body that authorities believed to have been a gun before they fired their weapons.The CHP officers involved in the shooting were identified as Sergeant John Holm who has been employed for 22 years, Officer Pakko Mendez who has been employed for 11 years, officer Javier Mendoza who has been employed for seven years, and officer Lauren Chi who has been employed for three years.RELATED: Authorities identify officers involved in deadly South Bay shootingThe San Diego Police officers involved in the shooting were identified as Sergeant Michael Pidgeon who has been employed for 26 years, and officer Patrick Harvey who has been employed for seven years. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Three animal rights activists have been banned from SeaWorld San Diego following a demonstration at an orca show this year.A San Diego Superior Court order issued Thursday banned three protestors affiliated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) from entering SeaWorld San Diego and Aquatica San Diego, SeaWorld said in a statement.Included in that ban were Ricky Rodriguez, Lyanne Fernandez, and Lisa Lange, PETA's senior vice president of communications. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Tunnel Task Force have released images showing what they say is a sophisticated drug smuggling tunnel that leads from Tijuana to a warehouse in Otay Mesa.Federal agents made the discovery Thursday, March 19, as part of an investigation into a transnational crime ring suspected of smuggling narcotics into the U.S. via a cross-border tunnel. The U.S. exit point was discovered subsequent to the execution of the warrant, the task force said.Agencies from the U.S. and Mexico located a 2,000-foot underground from a warehouse in Tijuana, Mexico to a warehouse in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego, according to the task force. The tunnel has an average depth of 31 feet and is three-feet wide through most of the passageway, according to authorities. Authorities estimate the tunnel to have been in existence for several months.The task force described it as having advanced construction including reinforced walls, ventilation, lighting, and an underground rail system. Authorities seized an estimated .6 million in mixed drugs including 1,300 pounds of cocaine, 86 pounds of methamphetamine, 17 pounds of heroin, 3,000 pounds of marijuana and more than two pounds of fentanyl.According to the task force, the seizure is the first time "in San Diego’s history where five different types of drugs were found inside a tunnel."The tunnel has an average depth of 31 feet and is three-feet wide through most of the passageway.“I’m proud of the excellent work performed by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, as well as U.S. Border Patrol and Drug Enforcement Administration agents as integrated partners of the San Diego Tunnel Task Force. Uriah Odish admitted to selling more than 500 grams of what he knew to be fentanyl between 2017 and the day of the deadly overdose of Tiffany Hansen in 2018. “Every time we have an overdose death, we are going to come looking for the dealer,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “We are using every available criminal and civil tool to combat this deadly epidemic and stop these tragic losses.”“We work every day to save lives and we grieve when we lose a precious soul to drugs,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Karen Flowers. “We will continue to pursue anyone who deals death. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Tierrasanta woman whose toddler died after being discovered in a car was arrested Thursday, San Diego Police said. Police said they waited this long to make the arrest to build evidence for a trial.Twenty-month-old Scarlett was found unresponsive outside the home at 10304 Leary St. on Aug. 5. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the child but were unsuccessful. Police said the girl’s mother, Pricilla Marquez Harris, called them at 12:45 p.m. that day to say she could not find her daughter. Harris later called back to say the girl was in her Nissan Altima and not breathing. Harris was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation the same day, officials confirmed to 10News.Harris is charged with child endangerment, inflicting great bodily injury on a child under the age of five years, and personal infliction likely to produce great bodily injury or the death of a child.
