The Seattle Police Department said that one person was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting Wednesday night in downtown Seattle. The incident took place in a busy section of Seattle, as multiple shopping venues are within a block of where there shooting was reported. Seattle Police originally said that a total of six people were shot, but local hospitals reported to police that two additional people arrived at the hospital on their own. Police said that a 50-year-old woman was in critical condition and a 9-year-old was in "satisfactory" condition. A 32-year-old man also remains hospitalized in "satisfactory" condition.Four other men were hospitalized but were treated and released by Wednesday morning. The US Department of Veterans Affairs is investigating 11 suspicious deaths at a medical center in West Virginia, according to a statement from Sen. Joe Manchin's office.The VA said it is looking into "potential wrongdoing" at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.
