FROSTPROOF, Fla. — The triple murder of three close friends is under investigation in Florida. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says around 10:06 p.m. on Friday, one victim, 27-year-old Rollins, called his dad for help. Officials say his dad knew Brandon had gone fishing with two of his friends, 30-year-old Keven Springfield and 23-year-old Damion Tillman, who were also victims. All were from Frostproof.Brandon's dad drove to the unincorporated area of Frostproof and when he arrived, he found his son barely alive, officials say. The other two friends were found dead.Brandon's dad drove to a close-by gas station to call 911.When first responders arrived, all three victims were found dead. Officials said they appeared to have been beaten and shot."This is a horrific scene. I've been to a lot of murder scenes in my life and this ranks among the worst I've been to," said Sheriff Grady Judd.According to families, the three men were best friends and knew each other for years. They said the three men were fishing on land, not in a boat."We are seeking leads. We need help so we can solve this crime sooner rather than later because there are one or more, we suspected more, murderers, that killed three people in a quiet community," said Sheriff Judd. The sheriff's office is asking for the public's help on any information on the incident. If anyone has any information, contact PCSO at 863-298-6200.This story was originally published by Lisette Lopez at WFTS. 1477

FULLERTON (CNS) - A Compton couple facing criminal charges stemming from a brawl at Disneyland that was captured on video that went viral failed to appear in court this week for arraignment.Andrea Nicole Robinson, 40, and her husband, Daman Petrie, 44, were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, but they did not show up for the hearing, according to court records obtained by City News Service. It's not clear what authorities will do to compel the defendants to appear in court, but there are no more hearings scheduled so far.RELATED: Three people charged in Disneyland brawl that was caught on videoRobinson's 35-year-old brother and co-defendant, Avery Desmond-Edwinn Robinson, is due in court Sept. 30 for a pretrial hearing at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.Avery Robinson faces the most serious charges of the three defendants. He is charged with one felony count each of domestic battery with corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury on his girlfriend and assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal threats, along with five counts of battery and four counts of child abuse and endangerment, all misdemeanors.Robinson's sister is charged with four misdemeanor counts of battery for allegedly attacking her brother, his girlfriend and a Disneyland security guard, and a misdemeanor count of assault on her brother's girlfriend. She faces 2 1/2 years in jail if convicted.Petrie is charged with one count of battery on his brother-in-law's girlfriend, who was punched in the face during the July 5 scrum, and faces up to six months in jail if convicted, according to prosecutors. It's unclear what touched off the fight, which broke out in Toontown and sprawled out onto the Main Street in the famous theme park, but several Disneyland visitors tried to stop it, prosecutors said. One theme park guest put Avery Robinson in a chokehold, prosecutors said, and one of the children with the family was carried away from the brawl. When security guards asked the family to leave, there was more violence, prosecutors allege. Avery Robinson is accused of attempting to hit a security guard with his vehicle as he drove away and threatening to kill his sister and Petrie as he allegedly simulated having a gun in his hand, prosecutors said. 2297

Glen “Big Baby” Davis, former NBA player best known for his role on the 2008 championship Boston Celtics, was arrested at a Hampton Inn in Aberdeen, Maryland last month.According to court records, the hotel owner smelled marijuana coming from Davis' room on February 7th.When the owner knocked on room 208, someone inside the room told him to “F--- off!”Aberdeen police then responded to the hotel and Davis gave signed consent to search his room"They recovered 126 grams of marijuana,” said Aberdeen Police Lieutenant William Reiber, “In addition to that there was a brief case that contained ,164 of U.S. currency along with a ledger that contained language which is consistent with someone involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics."The ledger was of names of people of who owed money along with baggies for individual packaging of a quarter pound of marijuana. The strains were called "Sour D" and "Berry," all from a Los Angeles wholesaler court records show Davis told police he was in business with.It all resulted Davis’ arrest followed by an indictment weeks later on seven counts of drug possession and distribution.Aberdeen Police say it was during the booking process when it became apparent who Davis is in the sports world. He told officers he was in Harford County, Maryland visiting family."There was a statement that was made about the purpose of the trip but at the end of the day we don't know exactly,” Lt. Reiber said, “There was an investigation, it is still ongoing. It is still making its way through the justice system "Davis' attorney, who could not do an on-camera interview about this case said that Mr. Davis adamantly maintains his innocence and looks forward to his day in court to clear his good name. Glen “Big Baby” Davis is due in a Bel Air courtroom early next month. 1836

Heading into the workforce saddled with student loan debt can make any new graduate panic. But many borrowers have the power to make their loan payments more manageable — and fail to take advantage of it.A new NerdWallet analysis puts the Class of 2018 in retirement at age 72 after years of careful budgeting, debt repayment and savings. The first 10 years of that long-term financial plan is spent siphoning a considerable amount into student loan payments, though the analysis indicates stretching that repayment term out could make saving for retirement and even their first home a little easier.“The 10-year repayment plan is the one federal loan borrowers are automatically funneled into, unless they pick a different one,” says Brianna McGurran, NerdWallet student loans expert. “But there are lots of other options out there.”Most student borrowers are in a 10-year repayment plan, which is a strong option for getting rid of their loans fast — if they can afford it. Just 39% of recent undergraduates who have student loan debt think it’s likely they’ll pay off their loans in a decade, according to a related online survey conducted by The Harris Poll.Their doubt is understandable — the NerdWallet analysis indicates new graduates with an average amount of loan debt would have payments of approximately 0 each month for 10 years. Higher-than-average student debt, additional debt burdens, unexpected financial blows, or a lower-paying first job out of school could make these payments unmanageable.“It’s up to grads to learn about what’s available and advocate for themselves with their student loan servicers to get what they need,” McGurran says.By contacting their servicer, federal borrowers can change their repayment plan or otherwise ease up the payments with one of these approaches:Graduated repayment plan. Payments start lower and increase every two years with a graduated repayment plan, but the repayment term remains at 10 years total. This may be a good option if your ability to pay will increase as you move through the first several years of your career.Extended repayment plan. Moving into an extended repayment plan will stretch your loan payments out to 25 years. Your monthly responsibility will be lower, but you’ll pay more in interest during that time.Income-driven repayment. There are four income-driven repayment plans available for federal student loan borrowers. These cap your monthly payments at 10%-20% of your income, and extend the repayment term to 20 or 25 years. You’ll pay more in interest due to the longer term, and income-driven repayment plans require you to reapply each year.Consolidation. Federal student loan consolidation won’t likely lower your payments dramatically, but it can put multiple loans into a single payment. It’s also a good option if you’re in default and want to get your student debt back in good standing.Refinancing. Student loan refinancing can give you a lower interest rate and therefore lower payments, but it requires a credit score in the high 600s at least. Because refinancing makes you ineligible for income-driven repayment options in the future, this option is best for people with higher incomes.More From NerdWallet 3278

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The 24-year-old driver who struck and killed three kids while they crossed the street to board their school bus told police she saw the lights but didn't realize it was a bus until the kids were in front of her. Alyssa Shepherd was arrested at her place of employment Tuesday evening and charged with three counts of reckless homicide and one count of disregarding the stop arms on a school bus causing injury. Police say she was driving a Toyota Tacoma on State Road 25 around 7:30 a.m. when she "disregarded" the stop arm and lights on a stopped school bus in front of a mobile home park, striking four kids who were crossing the street to board the bus. Alivia Stahl, 9, and her twin brothers, Xzavier and Mason Ingle, 6, were all pronounced dead at the scene. Maverick Lowe, 11, was flown to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne in critical condition with multiple broken bones and internal injuries. His family released a statement on Wednesday saying he is in stable condition and recovering. A probable cause hearing was recorded in Fulton County Superior Court on Tuesday where investigators and officers were interviewed following the crash as state police sought a warrant to arrest Shepherd. In that recorded hearing, Indiana State Police Detective Michelle Jumper recalled the information given to her by the bus driver, Shepherd and a witness that was behind Shepherd following the crash. The Bus DriverJumper said the bus driver said he had driven that same route for "a couple of years" and that he had stopped and activated his lights as he normally does in the morning before he waves the kids across the street to get on the bus. The bus driver told Jumper that he looked and saw the vehicle at a distance and waved the kids to cross the road because he figured there was no reason that the driver wouldn't stop. Jumper said the bus driver didn't realize the vehicle wasn't stopping until it was near his bus and he hit his horn at the last second, but there was nothing he could do. The Witness Driving Behind Alyssa ShepherdJumper said the witness told her she had been following the pickup truck in front of her for a while and was going about 55 miles per hour when she caught up to her. The driver said they went around the corner and she could tell there was a school bus stopped with all of its lights activated so she started to slow down. The driver told Jumper that she realized the truck in front of her was not slowing down as she saw the headlights illuminate the kids as they were crossing the road. Alyssa ShepherdShepherd told Jumper that she does not typically drive her husband to work, but that she had just dropped him off Tuesday morning and had three children in the back seat of the vehicle. Shepherd said she was not sure how fast she was going but that she is typically a "slow driver." She told Jumper that she was not late for anything that morning and that she was taking her little brother to her mother's house so that he could get ready for school. Jumper said Shepherd told her she came around the corner and saw the lights, but was not sure what they were and by the time she realized that it was a school bus the kids were right in front of her.  Shepherd is the children's director at Faith Outreach Center, a Foursquare Gospel Church in Rochester, Ind. Rev. Terry Baldwin said Wednesday that they are "Fervently praying for the family suffering this tremendous loss and everyone who has experienced this tragedy."Shepherd was released Tuesday evening on a ,000 bond. Her next court date has not been scheduled at this time.  3716
